Interesting promotion, but they never said what caliber or ammo was being fired. It matters. I have some Aquilla very low velocity 22LR ammo that bounced off of a 1/2 inch pine board at less than 7 yards.

It's a 9 mm Glock. There is an edited version in the description that tells that.

There was a video going around LE circles not too long ago where the guy almost died when the "shooter" shot too low and the round skidded off the bottom of the armor plate and entered the wearer's upper groin. The shooter was too close with a carbine and the sights are well above the muzzle line. Idiots.

The comments with this video show how LITTLE many of the folks know about firearms, vests, and/or shooting in general.

"Oh, wearing a vest and it still hurts, fake!" - Yes it still hurts.. a lot.

"Oh, good thing he wore his safety glasses.. duh." - Yup, there could have been bullet fragments, powder blast, or dust and dirt kicked up. He would have been an idiot to be downrange from a firearm discharge and NOT wear them.

Lot's of other stupid comments... lot of armchair warriors who have probably never fired a firearm, or worn a vest...

I wore one for ten years on patrol, and they are hot and uncomfortable. When you pull out the neck hole at the top of it to vent the top of the vest in the summer.. the heat rolls out.. Those who have worn one will attest, in summer, you vent the vest a lot once the temperature starts to climb. But... it's better to be hot and uncomfortable than dead. Most folks don't realize that your vest does more than protect you if you get shot.

In a car crash, they can protect your chest area from the impact trauma, avoiding a Flailed Chest is a good thing.
In a fight with a suspect, they are a great aide, both protection from blows, and a weapon in itself. Drop on someone when you are wearing a vest, they feel it. It's like a hammer pounding them to the pavement. (At least when I did it, at 230 pounds, plus all my gear.)

They also provide back support... I know this first hand after a work related back strain. After having to restrain a 6'5" 300 pound mental patient intent on running into traffic until backup arrived, my back was really giving me a fit. But... I didn't need a brace, just put on the vest, tightened the straps a bit more than normal, and I was good to go.

Funny thing...

Richard Davis, the inventor of Second Chance Body Armor used to shoot himself at every stop as he drove around the country peddling this brand new product to prove it worked. He learned early on to put a phone book behind his vest to prevent the bruising and severe pain since HE shot himself at point blank range with a 44 mag.
No questions then if he was faking.
