Any Ideas?

A friend of mine recently inherited some guns and has offered me first dibs. All guns are in very good condition...only one has a scratch on the stock. Some of them look like they've never been fired. I would have liked to find a better area to post this, but they are all over the map. I can't afford them all, so I am curious if anyone has personal experience, or is familiar with any of them. I'd love to buy a few.

1. Ruger M77 mark II .243 stainless and composite "skeleton/boat paddle" stock.
2. Same as above, but .270.
3. Browning Auto-5 12ga magnum semi-auto with 2 barrels
4. Remington model 870LW Special 20ga pump
5. Browning BAR .270 (Belgium made)
6. Browning B80 3" magnum made in Italy
7. Winchester model 94 30/30 lever gun
8. Same as above, but 1894-1994 100th anniversary commemorative
9. Remington model 1100 Special 12ga 2 3/4"
10. Same as above, but 3" magnum
11. Springfield Armory Timberwolf .357 mag pump (Israel Military Industries)...2 of these guns.
12. AMT 25/22 Lightning .22LR...looks like a big Ruger 10/22
13. Browning Model 22 12ga pump

I'm kind of partial to the .243, the .357s, the .22LR and maybe one of the shotguns, but I'm open to any advice I can get.

That you would have the most use for.
That you already load for, stock ammo for, or can get ammo for.
Have been on your list.
Or just stand out of the crowd and you know, just know, you will regret leaving behind when you walk away.

the 94 is an American classic .... I have my grandfather's early edition that has earned every blemish in its wood and worn bluing on the metal .... not the most powerful or long range rifle out there but many articles report that more deer and black bears have been taken with a 30-30 than with any other rifle

our 1100 wasn't built with a barrel fitted for choke tubes .... Carlson took care of that for us .... very dependable .... another American classic

as already noted, the choice is totally up to you .... don't believe you can go wrong with any of them

I would definitely look at getting the ones you have interest in. Plus I'd get number 8 on your list just to have.

Kid in a candy store is right...my eyes were pretty big. I'd buy them all if I could, based on condition alone.

As far as holding their value, any of the Brownings, but especially the Belgian made versions, though the Japanese versions are still great guns and still hold their value, too. The Model 94 Winchester, too, but only off it's a pre '64 gun. Otherwise, don't get suckered into paying a premium price for it.

The old Remington shotguns are always great buys and sure bets, but especially the LW 20 gauge. That vintage and that version is bringing top dollar. In bird hunting country, those get gobbled up, quick. Can never go wrong on any old 870 or 1100, though, assuming it's a version you want.

Thanks everyone. Most of them are from the 80s and 90s, if I recall correctly (I must be getting old...that still sounds new to me).

That would be cool to see some photos, Roddy. And I'd really like to see the Springfield Armory Timberwolf .357 mag pump...if she did take a shot of that one. Those are hard to find now. I'd sure like to have a pump in .357 magnum!

She only has a couple of group shots. I'll try to get ahold of Jim and take some individual pictures. There are 2 Springfields...one looks like it has never been fired. I couldn't find much info on these...most of the info I was able to come up with was on the Action Arms version, also made by I.M.I.. Are the Springfields less common than the Action Arms? I would like a rifle in .357 as well...I was considering a Henry, or a Ruger 77/357, but I can probably get one of these Springfields for 1/2 the cost of a new Big Boy or Ruger.

I forgot all about this thread. They were all nice, but I ended up with the Ruger M77 Mk II (.243 stainless/Zytel stock), the springfield armory version of an IMI Timberwolf (.357), and the AMT 25/22 Lightning. I was very tempted to jump on the 870 .20 ga, but waited too long.
