the most recent news I've heard is the merger of Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s has received the go-ahead from antitrust regulators .... last I heard the official merger is supposed to take place later this year

They were supposed to build a Cabelas around the corner from my house. Started construction, and then it all fell through.

I like the huge Cabelas. The smaller ones, not so much. I've never enjoyed the Bass Pros as much. Not much choice now.

We have a great Bass Pro here. The Cabelas is new, looks really good from outside, but once you get inside walking around... WTH?
Wow... this place is really... small.

We have Bass Pro Cabelas And Sportsman warehouse. Now Sheels has come in and chased Bass Pro out of our area. The Sheels store is going to be a monster with all kinds of tanks and other features inside. Im thinking Sportsmans and Cabelas around here might be in trouble.

Bass Pro and Cabelas both have high pricing on what I buy. Cheaper prices to be found elsewhere on the interweb.

I have not checked out ammo at our Bass Pro, but Cabela's is not the best price around for 45 Colt. Great store and fun to wander around looking at things but expensive on most.

I've found that with many if not most reloading components to be out the door as cheap or cheaper at Cabela's .... the same is true to a lesser degree with Bass Pro ... what I find is I can often get the item on line cheaper but by the time I pay shipping, I can do as good or better .... that is specially true if the online source charges sales tax .... in addition, when they put their house brand items on sale, we have found some very competitive pricing .... paying full price for those and their name brand stuff can really be expensive

Gonna be on the southeast corner of I-25 and 34 in Johnstown. Opening in September they say. Believe they started in the midwest. They will have a large part of the store dedicated to sporting equipment unfortunately but it is more competition. I suspect sportsmans will be the first to fall in their presence.

There is BIG basspro in Orlando where I used to work.
Nice to walk around for sure, but the prices nothing to write home about.

Funny but around 2009 i had an issue with my bay boat and pulled out a manual bildge pump from basspro (first time used) and it fell apart in my hands out of the box.

Nice

I know they also basically ruined Seacraft and Mako when they took them over.

I wasn't impressed with the company.
