Photobucket latest BS!

It seems that in the last couple of days Photobucket has locked all mine and lot's of other folks pics. Anything from my Avatar to any pics I have ever put into a build thread now do not work. To make them work I have to buy a $400 a year membership to allow 3rd party hosting. I might have gone for $100 but not $400. After all these years it sure seems like planned extortion. They may be within their legal rights. It is their site. But I think this may do them in and it will surely change how many folks interact with the web from here on out.

I think you should continue to use their site for your avatar which currently reads...well you know what it says. It will remind people of what will happen to them at some point. I stopped using them about a year ago.

All my past build threads and instructional posts on several forums are garbage without pics. I have deleted all my thousands of pics from Photobucket and advised them to close my account forever. May everyone else do the same and see them go down in flames!

I just went there and deleted all of my pictures. It took several minutes to get in there as there are so many pop ups going on the actual sight itself is a pain to use. Since I have a different computer now its alot easier to upload them direct thatn to use there sight. I know all sights dont offer the direct upload I just wont have pictures there anymore. Al

I deleted my account last weekend. But it's still there. If I go into my account settings and then go to account. It says it will be deleted last Tuesday! I think they are having a hard time keeping up with us deserters! Either that or hoping we'll come back and change our minds.

Log in to PB. Click on what would be your avatar on the top right. From the drop down click settings. From the file tabs click account. On the bottom of that page should be a place to click to delete your account. Just don't expect them to jump on actually doing it.

followed the above directions and I think I was able to delete our account .... to test it, typed in their web address in another window .... my screen name and sign-in data were still there ..... followed the directions again and when I got down to the "Delete Account" I found this note : "Your account will be deleted 07/11/2017" and gave me an option to undo the delete .... that may explain why my info was still there .... guess time will tell

Sadly the bucket is now empty. I had most of my photos copied on my hard drive but there were a few that are now simply a memory.
