The glue is set now where we glued and put the dowels in my top to make it 12' long. Did the best we could on clamping and pulling it together to have a tight joint. Has a line at the joint but I think it looks fine. It is not like it is the kitchen where it may matter to my wife. I sanded the joint last night to get a perfect smooth fit across the joint. Put the armor-all on and a coat of polyurethane and got a second coat on about an hour later.
It is looking like the first of the week before anything else might get done. I think I may do a little painting around the edges and around the cabinets but not finish the whole floor until every thing is in place. Here is what the joint looks like now.

Wood is the best way to go! It will also capture of lot of history as you work there, Bandit.
Looks great! :)

That looks great, bandit! It'll certainly stand up to whatever you can throw at it, and keep coming back for more. ;)
