I have a couple bucket lists...
One for places I'd like to fish before I die..
One for things I'd like to do before I die...
But the one I wanna talk about over morning coffee...

The few guns I'd still like to add to my collection.
I don't need any more guns. I'm not competing any more, and we have our carry and home defense guns, but it's like fishing gear... you can't have too many nice rods, and there isn't a such thing as too many lures.

My list?

The venerable old M1 Garand. I shot it in competition as a match rifle early in my Marine Corps Career. I have come across several I should have bought in the past that were nice, and didn't. They have gotten very dear for the good ones these days.

Next... A Colt Gold Cup National Match -Stainless. Talk about dear. I borrowed this 45 from a friend while my Springfield was being built, so that I could continue to shoot the service auto class in our ppc league. I won two months straight. Beautiful gun. He wouldn't sell, just laughed every time I asked for twenty plus years.

A stag gripped single action ruger 357. I had one, and a room mate in the Corps bugged me for two years to sell it to him. He didn't want a similar gun, he wanted that one. Finally, I named a ridiculous price... he paid it. What can you do?

There are a couple more, including two Henrys. One being the 1860... It's so sweet.

I don't need any of the guns on my bucket list... but if the turn up at a good price some day...

I need a new bucket, the one in the barn leaks.

Other than that, I don't need much but I'm reminded of a poem:

99.999% of any guns on my bucket list wouldn't be available here in the UK, so I try not to torture myself too much on that score.

There are probably a few things I'd like to do, or places to see, but nothing that would bother me if I never do. I guess I'm just happy with the way things are. [yep, I'm just a boring old fart, really! ]

I can understand that LES, my bucket list for places to fish won't get checked off. Most of them are out of my reach now, as inaccessible to me in my physical condition. These things happen. Bone fishing in Florida with my fly rods is still doable, especially if we take the kayaks. There are still trout streams we can hit, but the really nice ones are out of reach. But, I don't look back at the things I can't do... I try to look FORWARD to the things I can. I tell my kids that they should waste less money on things that don't matter and travel and see things, do things with the kids, and enjoy life. Suddenly, time has flown by..

I can't complain... thanks to my time in the Corps, I have seen MORE of the world than most of my friends who have made a lot of money and traveled. I have done things most have only dreamed of, and I have few regrets. I LIVED my life... and wouldn't change much if I had it all to do again.

Would love to add a Freedom Arms single action to the collection and, of course, more classic single shot rifles.

If I'm still able to sit a horse in 20 yrs I guess my bucket list is complete. I'm happy with the guns I have and the good Lord's been a real pal all these years.

A few years ago I had ordered one; but as I completed the "extras," I bailed out as the price got a little too high. I guess it's a good thing I bailed, because I did bump into some financial issues not very long after I cancelled the order. But here is what I had requested to be built.

With Standard adjustable sight, it was a .357 Magnum Premier Grade with 4¼ inch barrel. Planned for a second .38 Special cylinder fit to Model 97 .357 Mag. Added the tool pack for cleaning and field stripping; finally, set of specific caliber snap caps. Of course, now I say to myself that I wish I had completed the order. But the water has long since passed under the bridge, and is mega miles downstream. Still, what a fantastic revolver this is.

Have you ever handled/shot one? It must be something else. I just want a house on a lake.

As I have said before, my next Henry will be an 1860 in .45. All I need is for other financial needs to stop popping up here and there.

I have more than enough guns to keep me busy if I ever have time to shoot them.

As for a bucket list, my life's goals were achieved decades ago.

Problem is that there is now a two year wait on some versions and it is all but impossible to find anything used under $1500. Prices on new start north of 2K. Most gun shops in our region have never even seen one and neither have I in all the gun shows I've been going to for years. Probably not in the cards for me getting my husband convinced to spend that kind of money on one gun. A girl can dream, though.

Exactly what I've read, NCG, and heard from some folk, "....some shooters....report that nothing in a single action revolver compares." When I looked at the FA web site this week, I also noticed the 2-year build time to complete an order. Good for FA; they have highly in-demand revolvers.

My wife was willing to give her "okay" for the purchase I had planned in Feb 2013. Bottom line, the prices were steep as you noted. Just looked at my order sheet, and these are the over-2-year-old costs I had:
~Model 97 Premier Grade .357 Magnum -- $1995
~.38 Special cylinder fit to Model 97 .357 Mag -- $312.00
Whoa, I had forgotten I added flutes into my order to build into the .38 Special cylinder, so to distinguish from the .357 cylinder: ~Flutes added to Model 97 cylinder –- $91.00
~tool kit, snap caps, other accessories.

My total before FFL charges and MO taxes was $2418.50. Yup, quite expensive. But I still think the FA revolver is one worth buying. Finally, I found this picture of a premier grade revolver I had attached to my order....it was an eye-catcher! It sure is a great-looking revolver.
