Thanks! Very interesting, she is really good! I had never heard of her and I just now looked her up on Google and read more about her.

You know they are shooting blanks . All guns must be SA and shoot 45 Colt and you can only shoot the ammo is supplied at the match and no other ammo allowed at the match area .

For sure. I just know from team roping how tough it is to get all the components working together at a full gallop sometimes.

The last time I rode a horse was in 1954 and I brought and sold horse in Ca in 1967 for a living .

AMEN .... granted, she's atop one fine pony .... being able to control it one hand and her knees while drawing, shooting, switching revolvers with the other is remarkable

That's great shooting regardless of having to gallop a horse through a maze of targets, but "Cowboy Mounted Shooting" looks like a pretty risky competition for the judges and the spectators and, of course, the horse. It was fun to watch on YouTube, though. Thanks.

But, I still wonder. If they're shooting blanks, how do the balloons burst, and how are the shooters judged?

If you notice the white smoke from gun she was shooting that is a sign of black powder in cartridge . If you shot it at night [ in video ] you would see the B P is still burning when it come out of gun hitting the balloons . That is why they like the longer barrels too .

I am impressed. As a kid, I wanted to shoot from horseback. I've done a lot of shooting, but never from a horse. I realize how difficult that would be.

this falls under the heading of "boys and girls, don't try this at home" .... an instant rodeo and/or Kentucky Derby can break out if you fire a shot from the back of a horse that hasn't been properly trained for it .. .. don't bother to ask me how I know ..
