I am back to where I started 26 years ago when we moved here with setting up my gun and reloading room in the basement. That area in the basement has seen a lot of use over the years and some of the things that was done in there took its toll on the place. I have used it for a butcher shop in deer season to rebuilding motor cycle transmissions and building bicycles and most anything else I needed a place to work on stuff. So now let the work start all over again when they get the new wall in place and do the other work so I can start getting back to a real set up like I had before the car ran in to the house. I never realized how much I could miss that room of mine until it is not there to be used for my every day things I do with my guns and loading ammo and stock work. I hope it gets under way soon so I can unpack boxes of bullets and my other things and get them out in the open so I can just reach out and get what I need. I would think it may take a month or more after the wall is done to repaint the wall and the floor back to the way it was and then come up with new shelves and put my cabinet and new counter top back in. May put up aluminum shelves made from 6" wide full length running boards for a 4 door pickup. I saw a set for a pickup that are 85" long 6" wide so that would make two shelves 7" long for $219. I had more than that in my wood shelves.
I went from having it like this before the car ran through our home.

Now I am back to this. It has bee a total night mare for my wife and I.

Will you do anything different with the setup this time, or was it good the way it was?

Thanks for the update, Bandit. You're getting a "do over" with such valuable hindsight. What an opportunity! I'm looking forward to reading about what you think you did right the first time and what you will change about it this time and how it all works out going forward. Very cool.

Good to see progress being made. I know it has been painful for you and Mrs. Bandit.
I like the idea of the running board shelving. It will be unique and your personal touch.

You can say that again.

I hope it won't be too much longer until you're back to where you were before the accident, bandit. Starting from a blank canvass again won't be easy, but I have a feeling that you're more than capable of making the best of a bad situation.
