Funny things in a marriage.

I can look back and chuckle at a few things that at the time didn't seem important. Whenever Donna and I would go out for breakfast or lunch she would never order coffee, just water. Then when my coffee came she would look at it and ask for "just a sip". Then ten minutes later I get back an empty cup with lipstick on it. It happened all the time and I could never see it coming.

Those memories will hit and run for quite a while over the next few weeks or months.

I agree. It's those little things that endear us to each other and are also the things we tend to remember and cherish. The smiles they create help me get by the grief of having lost loved ones. Best therapy there is.

Little memories make you laugh, smile and cry with joy and/or sadness.
CHERISH them and be happy for the time that you had together.
Joy and sadness are part of life and death. Death is a part of LIFE.
The only thing that we can do when we lose a loved one in life is go on with life.
That is what life and LIVING are all about.
Our loved ones want us to live our lives as best as we can no matter what the future may or may not bring us.
I know that your wife wanted the best for you in life and after death.

This is so TRUE! Thank you.
I have a bunch of them from my late husband, late friends and family members.

If my wife thinks about all of my weird quirks after I'm gone, she'll be all healed up in about 20 minutes. There's a lot of material to draw from.

My wife calls me a jerk all the time so Im not sure memories will even play a part in the healing process here.

I've been trying to think of something to add to the thread, but you've said it all for me!

Sometimes I forget she is not here and call out her name wondering where she is.

She will answer you, you just won't hear her with your ears. Listen to your heart she left her reply there.

I told this story a few years ago on another forum.
Donna and I were watching a Mariners game on TV like we normally do. We had a standing bet of $1 on every game. Donna wanted to learn more about baseball and we were talking about their schedule. But after a few minutes I realized she wasn't really interested she just wanted me to think she was. So I told her about the usual three game series and the last game if during the week would often be a daytime game. So the next day I watched the game live and knew the final score. Then when Donna came home we turned the game on and watched a rebroadcast of it. Except Donna thought it was live, remember she wasn't paying attention the day before. So when they were down three runs I asked her if she wanted to up the bet to dinner and she said yes thinking she had a three run lead. Surprise surprise the M's came back and won. Later at dinner I told her what I had done and she got mad at me. Not for cheating but for telling her.

I remember the story you told about being on the road several miles from home. When you called to ask her to check the garage door because you just accidentally pushed the remote button. And she went to check it.
I really should pull that one on my wife..... I bet she would go check the door.

I was several states away. Funny thing is now days I could have checked it with my smart phone.

My best one....
Wife: How's it going with your 30 LB weight loss program?
Me: Slow and steady
Wife: Oh, I forgot. I was at the grocery the other day and got you bite size bags of snicker, Twix, Heath and Butterfinger.
Me: Really?

I'm known for being rather blunt and to the point. And a warped sense of humor

My wife and I had been together for maybe a year. She was going out with a girlfriend that day and before she left asked me if I would be upset if she went. I straight faced said "no, I'll just treat you like crap the rest of the day"!! She looked stunned till she realized I was joking

We still laugh about it occasionally
I won't get into what my wife is going through, but I feel you Sir Henry
