What did Santa bring you this year? I got some new Howard Leight electronic ear protectors and a Lyman reloading manual. Not too shabby.

Besides that NASCAR die-cast that I just posted, I got a bottle of Jack Daniels, a shirt, a book, a die-cast model/bank of a 1926 Seagrave fire truck and a box of chocolate covered cherries.

Dropped by my buddy's house today. He had picked me up a 1952 Mauser. It's been rechambered in 30-06. Guess I will have to break down and pick up some 30-06 dies and trimming die. Made me feel a little bad. All I got him was a Lyman gun vise. He's been threatening to get me a 30 caliber rifle for years. I suppose this one will have enough punch for the feral hogs around here.
The worst thing is I have to wait til Wednesday to pick it up. I was on my way to work.

I will have to wait a while to find out. We will wait until the family is all here and after we attend church this morning to open gifts. I didn't get my wife any new guns that I might like to use.

I didn't get anything except for a salt and pepper shaker as a white elephant gift at a party last night. I brought a lump of coal and wrapped it. Half the gifts were gag and half were regular gifts. Other than that I didn't buy anyone anything but choose instead to donate $100 a month to a local animal shelter. This is the forth year I've not given gifts and made a monthly donation.

Here's a heartwarming story for Christmas Day. We have a homeless guy who has set up at a small local summer campground. No idea who he is, he just appeared one day and we thought someone had abandoned the wagon. As you can see by his wagon, it's primitive to say the least. With the temperatures dropping again to -20's last night we picked up some hot soup and coffee at the local donut shop yesterday and I thought I'd play Santa. You know, 'tis better to give than to receive etc. We couldn't get into the camp even with 4x4 so we parked by the road and I walked in. I yelled "Anybody home? I have hot soup and hot coffee here for you!" I could hear him talking inside but couldn't make out what he was saying, and I thought he was getting ready to come out and enjoy a hot meal. I said again, "Come and get some hot soup!". Then came his heartfelt reply loud and clear;
"I DON'T NEED A DAMN THING!"

...I left the insulated bag with the stuff in it and went back to the truck. Oh well, I guess some good deeds don't quite follow the script.

In retrospect, I guess he wouldn't know if I meant him harm, hopefully he got the food before it froze. He did yell Merry Christmas as I walked away, and I responded in kind. My mother thought this story was hilarious.

It started to sound too much like Gunsmoke episode 26
Can't define what Karma is or where it comes from RR, but you definitely got some out of that

Intent and attitude define a person's character, RanchRoper. Yours is good. That act of kindness is evidence. Thanks for sharing the story and the photo.

We got a new dog to replace the best dog I have ever had. We had to put her to sleep about a month ago and I have been greiving ever since. Was so hard to do. But the new pup is a treat and shes going to be another good one just have a good feeling about her. I know one thing she is helping heel the loss of the other but I will never forget. Al

Hey you found uncle Lambert! He worked for the railroad all his life and when he retired he became a hobo. He lived in places just like this and when he died he left the family several hundred thousand dollars and that was back in the 1970's. So maybe he isn't bitter but just wants his privacy.

Here's my new Schrade bowie knife!
10" blade with stag handle. Also got some new cowboy boots, and a great book of old time rodeo photos from 1900 to the 1940's.

I am glad that you could get another dog. Very happy for you. In July of 2010 we lost our Jack Russell Terrier that we had for twelve years, he had cancer. We both took it hard, they are a good friend, and I said that we wouldn't get another one, but the days wore on and I knew that I needed another one to fill the emptiness in the house. So, six weeks later we got Winnie, a long haired chihuahua and we have her trained to go on these pads that fit in a frame and I just change the pads one or two times a day. She will also go outside, but with the pads we don't have to worry about getting home in any specific time to let her out and in the bitter cold I don't have to let her outside. I never regret having bought another dog and she did make it easier after we lost Spencer, our Jack Russell Terrier. But like you say, you never forget.

Well, to add to the Mauser I got yesterday, today my wife got me a Vortex 3x9 - 40 for my Henry BB steel. Got it mounted up. I think Clovispup and I are going to like. Nice and crisp, great eye relief. Can't wait to try them both out at the range.
Amazing how she knew just what to get.
