That is a fantastic collection of photographs, Dutch. Many thanks for posting them. I can't help but wonder how many of the service personnel made it through to the end of the war.

I have an incredible amount of respect for the guys and gals that fought during WWII. Having been an aircrew member myself, I cannot imagine the courage it took to climb into their aircraft and fly missions over Europe during the war. The attrition rate was horrendous. Every mission they flew meant friends not making it back.
It would be an entirely different world today had these people not had the courage to do what needed to be done. So many of them never made it home.
