Saw my first Bald Eagle this year today. They usually migrate here from early December to late Feb. Many years ago, we were lucky to see a Bald Eagle, now they spend the winters for about 250 miles along the IL River. I have counted 8-10 some years just in our stretch of the River. Beautiful Bird.

I know how awesome that was for you, ArmyScout. The first one we ever saw in the wild was a heart thumping moment for us while boating on the CT River in 1992 when they were still endangered. It's always a privilege to see one, which we're lucky enough to do several times each year now. We also have a strong population of Osprey, too. They are both awesome birds to watch.

Just this summer I "found" an eagle's nest on the way to the MDC outdoor shooting range at Parma Woods. Hopefully I might get to see some activity there next spring....will definitely be on the look out!

We have a pair that use our lake for hunting grounds. See them all year round. Never get tired of seeing one, though. I know how you feel.

I saw them in Canada, and they were one of the highlights of the trip. I was even lucky enough to witness one catching a fish from a lake and flying off with it. That was really cool!

I also saw one being chased off its perch in a tree by two blackbirds. I thought that was quite funny.

We have a sanctuary a few miles away, occasionally I see one in flight, but they're so high you can just barely see the white head in the sunshine

I enjoy seeing them at camp.

I've only seen one in the wild here in Ohio. It was in Hocking county and I was wading Salt Creek fishing for small mouth bass. It flew out of a tall pine on a rock bank. Is one of the most coolest memories I have. So majestic.

They must have a slow reproduction rate being that they are protected and hardly ever seen. I've only seen maybe 5 in the wild in my lifetime, There is a place in Canada IIRC but there are hundreds of them just waiting for the geese to go south for the winter and then they ambush them.

We see them quite often along the Mississippi River here in Iowa. We even have some eagle cams around us that watch their nests and have seen several births.

The Pennsylvania State Game Commission has, and probably will again this year, have web cams to view nests near Pittsburg and Hanover Pa. They are really fun to watch and I have seen the parents even bring a dead skunk to the nest. But, ocassionally, as happened earlier this year, the eggs don't hatch, which is very disappointing. I believe that the Game Commission thought that it was due to unusually cold temperatures, even with the mother staying on the eggs continually. But, when the babies do hatch, that is when the fun starts and you can see them feed from whatever the parents bring to the nest. I have never had the opportunity to view an eagle when I have been out driving in the country or hiking.

I've had the opportunity of living out west where I often saw Golden eagles, too. They are a much different bird than the Bald Eagle in their habits and behavior. Much fiercer hunter than Balds. Very exciting birds.

How about a bald eagle nest cam in northern Michigan with Bigfoot in the background!

We get both here. I see them lots in the hills.
