I've always heard that once a person gets a concussion, it doesn't take as much force to get the next one .... I sure hope that's not the case for Jr

If Jr hung up his helmet, I would not blame him one bit, but like his Dad, I believe it is just part of his life.

I was a Sr fan back during the time he was running Saturday Night dirt track races in western NC .... he earned the Intimidator title .... I'm a strong Jr fan but have never seen that level of fire in Jr ....

I'll agree that his Dad had a lot more of it.

He really suffered when he had to step out of the car that time back in the 90's.

That was the time that he made a few laps and then turned in to give up the car.

Speaking of Dale, I couldn't find the video when he had to get out of the car that time, but I did find this one. One of my favorite stories to tell, when he flipped and really wrecked his car, got into the ambulance, looked out and said "hey that thing still has all it's wheels on it, see if it will fire", jumped back out, jumped in the car, drove it to the pits for it to get patched up, then went out racing again.

what a way to start the season .... per NASCAR.com ===> http://www.nascar.com/en_us/news-media/ ... eries.html

"Carl Edwards will step out of the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, and the team will put reigning NASCAR XFINITY Series champion Daniel Suarez in the car, according to multiple reports.

FOXSports.com initially reported the news.

Joe Gibbs Racing has scheduled a press conference for Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET. The event will be live-streamed on NASCAR.com."

I just came here to report it and see that JEBar beat me to it !!

That's pretty surprising. I know he was leaving Gibbs, but had no idea he wanted to leave Nascar. Hopefully we will be learning the details on it soon.

Here is the Fox report:

Yeah, he's relatively still a youngster but according to all the newer drivers, maybe no so much now.

In my opinion he is at the Top of his career and a prime contender for a championship.

Pretty stunning news. One of my favorite drivers to boot.

He was going to be my driver starting this year since Tony Stewart retired. I got a new Toyota 1:24 scale Arris Color Chrome Autographed Diecast for Christmas, one of Carl's main sponsors. I have never really picked a driver based on what car he drove, but on his personality, driving abilities and overall character. In regards to this, some may question the personality part of my choosing of Tony Stewart. But I really liked his competitiveness and I met him one time. Anyway, to me, Carl fit the mold in every category. I have been a real fan of NASCAR since 1989, but I had some interest in racing since I was a kid and attended local stock car races and at the county fair. But drivers and some teams and cars change frequently in NASCAR, this year the Monster Energy Series as far as the premier series. But I watch some of the Xfinity series too. So, tomorrow us fans will be a lot smarter after the press conference. SHR is going to Fords this year. This probably upsets some Chevy fans. I drive a Toyota, but this was not the reason that I was going to root for Carl. So, if he is actually going to retire and never consider racing in NASCAR again, I'm going to be following and rooting for that nice young man by the name of Chase Elliott. Now anyway, he drives a Chevy. I always really admired his father also.

First part of the press conference is over. Carl gave his 3 basic reasons for backing away from the sport and I have to say as a fan, I fully respect his decision.
