Well along with my eye injury this week at 9:30 this morning a young guy ran his car through our house. I heard he is in the hospital but with some injuries but that is all I heard. He came off the state highway a 100 yds. from our house and never touched the brakes from that time and put the front of his car through our basement wall into my gun room. All the shelving and work I just did is totally wiped out. A hole through the wall the width of his car we had to close up to keep the cold out. The basement wall is cracked the whole length of the house and the oil tank filler pipes is bent clear into my room. It cracked the living room and dining room walls up stairs and knocked pictures from the walls and our new windows on the end of the house don't want to go up and down now. One guy that was here said they may not leave my wife and I stay here if they find any more damage. I have probably 2000 bullets for reloading on the floor from the shelves he hit and they came open and are scattered every where. I am really down right now but it could have been worse as he could have been killed and I was at that window putting stuff away not more than 30 seconds before he hit. Those concrete blocks would have been in my face. I will not be able to use my room for quite a while and will have to take my safes and everything out when the repairs get started. I have pictures but photobucket sucks and I can't use it now so that is it until I have the insurance and contractors look things over.

Dog gone Brother, that is Terrible. I can't even imigine that kinda damage and whatnot. Man, it sounds like you were pretty darn lucky. Not sure if that decision to stay in the house is a good idea. Sounds like structural damage, and ya never know what might let go. I sure hope the cleanup goes ok, especially with only one good eye. Take it slow, and take care.

Glad you and your wife were not hurt. I hope all repairs get done right and as timely as possible. Wish I was close enough to come over and lend a hand.

I am really, really sorry to hear this story, Bandit. But at the same time, I am most grateful neither you nor your wife were injured, and also that the young driver has only injuries. Although a really bad incident, everything else is either replaceable or repairable. Small consolation, I know, but 'tis true.

Sure hope the insurance and contractor people can help out, and help quickly. Maybe you and your wife need to move out for a while until they make sure the house is safe to be in?? Especially as you recover from your eye injury. I'll be praying for you guys for good healing and recovery from all fronts. Take good care.

Oh man - the two toes I managed to break yesterday afternoon suddenly don't hurt anymore after reading that! Good thing no one was hurt! Good luck with the recovery on all that!

Bandit, I feel like I have come to know you through this forum and I'm very sad to read this news. This is certainly the worst of a string of awful accidents that you've endured lately. It does sound as if your house may require extensive rebuilding/replacement because of amount of damage you have from end to end; bottom to top; but I'm very thankful that you and your wife are OK and that the driver is, too.

Holy crap! Really glad you're okay!

I am so very sorry for you and your wife. I am glad that the driver was not killed. It is a bad turn of events lately for you between your eye injury and now this happening to your home. It is never a good time for this but especially unsettling with the holidays approaching. I certainly hope that repairs can be made as soon as possible and that you can stay in your home. I will be thinking of you and your wife.

Bandit, not to bring more bad thoughts, but remember, all the workmen (possibly women too) will be seeing all your firearms supplies at least. Is there a way to quickly move stuff to an area that won't be seen?

You are certainly having a stretch of bad luck. I'm glad you all were not hurt. I'll be surprised to learn that this young man wasn't under some influence.

You and the wife are in my thoughts. I hope your damage is soon repaired and things are made better than before.

Didn't you have Oak shelving and a steel lining in your reloading room?

ps...if you have good neighbors, lean on them. Chances are you'd do the same for them.

Now that you know what can happen maybe it's time to erect a highway barrier wall along with all the structural repairs?

bandit, I hope that you get everything sorted out asap. The good part is that none of your family was hurt - it could have been a whole lot worse.
