Earlier this year we decided to make a change in our RV. The motorhome we had was great for what we thought our intended use was going to be but in the end we decided we weren’t going to do distance traveling and we prefer to stay local to the NW corner of the country. So we sold the MH with the idea of going back to a travel trailer. Last week we decided to get serious about shopping for a trailer and looked at a couple of local dealers that we have done business with before. Found a 2025 used Cougar but it haven’t been thru the detail shop yet and my wife couldn’t get past all the spider webs on the exterior. Interior was fine but it was obvious it had been stored outdoors and not maintained even tho it was only one year old. But the sme dealer had a new exact model in at another location in Lewiston Idaho, about 2.5 hours south of us.

So last Friday we made the trip leaving at 6:30am. Got to the fairgrounds where the dealer was having a show and found the trailer we wanted to see was what they selected to be thier office. REALLY???? It was stuffed full of tables, computers, copiers etc and impossible to really take a look at. We worked with a great salesman who the Spokane salesman set us up with. (Didn’t want to cut the Spokane guy out of the deal if one happened). So the guy in Lewiston did a great job of showing us other units available and we were able to make a deal on this Rockwood shown below. It has a nearly identical floor plan as the Cougar. The Rockwood are a better built unit so of course a bit more expensive. We had a Rockwood before the MH and loved it and decided we were foolish to sell it. We negotiated a pretty good deal for us which included their delivering the trailer to the Spokane dealer for us to pick it up and also for their techs to install the weight dist hitch I already have on hand.

Left home at 6:30 am and returned at 8:30pm. That was a long day of driving, deciding and negotiating. Yesterday other than mowing the lawn I just rested. Getting too old for thins nonsense. I’ll post some better pics when I get it home (Monday next week).

Looking good. We leave for upstate New York on Thursday to visit our oldest daughter and her family.
I'm almost 86 now and pretty soon I'm going to have to stop driving our RV. Sad, but we've been doing it for
almost 30 years.

Good to be able to still drive. My neighbor drove up till she was 96. I’ve heard she was a speed demon.

I have mixed feelings about very old people driving since I'm getting closer to being very old (73 so I have a few years left). The lady that pulled out from a stop sign and and caused a severe and life long injury to my foot was in her mid 80's. Said she didn't see me, 4PM on a bright summer day, she was heading north and I was coming from the west so no sun in her eyes and I was driving a bright red 750cc motorcycle. She did lose her license, I had to go to court and testify as she was fighting it's loss.

They live in Buffalo but have a Park Model out in the mountains on a lake. That's where we will
be staying.

Nice RV. Brought back some memories. Berlin 1990, during the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain.

Wow, amazing pair to see in Berlin.

I'm going to hijack your thread. Looking forward to see some pictures of your new RV once you pick it up.
The Scout had lots of power to tow (5.7L, 4-speed manual) but 2 solid axles on leave springs were not a flexible suspension system.
It would fishtail easily when the faster semi big rigs or tall passenger coaches came passing.

Yours looks great with 2 entrances, I'd think it has a lot of space.
I am actually a big Airstream fan, but I am not RVing enough to justify ownership.

Nice trailer Hatch. Forest River has a few locations in Elkhart, In which is about 30 minutes away.

Man that would be convenient. I believe I paid over 2K in destination charges. Sure would be nice to buy one on ‘will call”.

This years Elkhart RV open house is Sept 28-30th. When I was working over there you could find everything from pop ups and teardrops to motorhome displayed all over the northwest side. I may have to go over there, they had a lot of very interesting things.

I should go to that. I’ll be a third of the way there on Sunday the 28th.
