Earlier this week, I ordered a couple of 250-round bottles of Federal .22 WMR ammo from Midway USA and I received the order on Friday afternoon. Surprisingly fast shipping but it went UPS, not USPS so that may account for a speedier shipping time. In any event, when I opened the package, I discovered that one of the bottles had been jarred so severely that the top had detached from the bottle and most of the rounds were adrift in the package. There was only one length of brown paper in the box used as packing. I couldn't find any evidence the package had been opened so I presume I got all the ammunition I ordered but I found it frustrating that the package was so poorly wrapped.

I don't know if this particular package was wrapped by man or machine but whoever/whichever did so, it was poorly done.

Luckily, it was not an expensive optic but I found I to be disappointing.

Oh well. Ammo shortage? I ain't skeered of no ammo shortage.

Sorry to hear that about the ammo. I've always had good luck with Midway, although I don't order much.

I see very poor packaging from Amazon all the time. The packing materials in the box are intended to keep the contents from shifting around causing damage just like you describe. Seems like the folks packing the boxes just put a little bit of packing inside to complete that step in the process without any regard to actually procting the contents. Grrrrrr

I've always had good service from Midway. As to the speedy delivery, I have a friend who said when he order from them he always adds a cheap box of 22lr ammo andit cuts the shipping time.
Some years back I ordered something from them, that's when he told me about the ammo trick. As luck would have it I found something else I wanted/needed so ordered whatever it was and added a cheap 50 round box of 22s. That package got here the day before the previous order.

I ordered bulk ammo from midway and ten of the milk cartons were not in it’s original case and just loose with little packaging. The loose ones were beat up.

Nowdays you pays your money and hope and pray you get something that might resemble what you ordered !

I ordered bulk ammo online from Bass Pro Shops several years ago when they had a big sale. Several cases of 223 and 1,000 rounds of 38 wadcutter. All the boxes arrived beat up, but several of the boxes of wadcutter arrived broken open and the foam trays cracked and ammo scattered inside the shipping box. I took pictures of all the boxes before I opened them, pictures of the damaged boxes inside, and counted the rounds for the loose/broken boxes. I came up short.

I sent an email to Bass Pro Customer Service, with photos and documents. They sent me Ammo to replace what was missing and a couple boxes extra for the delay and the hassle. I'm sure they billed FedEx for both our trouble, as it looked like the shipping containers had been kicked/tossed around the trucks for a week.

Some years back, I ordered something, I think it may have been ammo, from Optics Planet (I think) and it arrived in a large box with no padding whatsoever. Just a small box in a large box, free to ricochet from one side to another and top to bottom while in transit. So it's not just Midway that occasionally drops the ball.

It seems to me that we (the population, not just shooters) are become more and more willing to accept poor performance or mediocre service. I think that public education may be a good example.
