They are on episode three now and so far I like it a lot better than Marshalls.

Interesting you say it this way.
I think I only watched 1 episode of 'Marshals', so far. I may feel similar. I will give 'Marshals' more time. I like Luke Grimes.

Now, Taylor Sheridan, (co-) creator of 'Yellowstone' and many other contemporary series currently streaming, is much talked about in the entertainment world. He has an entire list on https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0792263/ of successful series & films.
His work could easily be described as 'Americana', same as the term applies to music genres.

That's a bummer, but I get it. I spent decades without a TV screen in the house.
My GF has most everything. So, I happily participate watching shows.

Sounds good, but I'm another one. I have an antenna only. Since the 80's I saved untold 10's of 1000's of dollars. But it has come back to me. I now get 30 channels and with a Firestick tons more. All for free.

My girlfriend is a big fan of Yellowstone, so we watched that whenever a new one dropped.
Been watching both Dutton Ranch and Marshalls lately too.

I want to like Marshalls, but so far, can't get into it, so I'm feeling similar. Haven't abandoned it yet, so still giving it a chance.
Still going with Dutton Ranch too, but it feels like going down that same road.

For watching, we got a VeeSee box, after hearing a few friends talk about it. So far, so good. It's a bit of an initial expense, and a learning curve to find what you want, but you get just about everything. No more extra packages for the channels you want, or movie networks, and it feels good to tell the cable company good-by.

No cable no streaming premium channels for us either. However I have a generous daughter who gave me a Christmas present and a birthday gift of the complete Yellowstone series and also 1883 which I watched over the weekend.

We’ve only watched the first episode of Dutton, but so far it’s at least watchable. Marshals is terrible. We run one or maybe two “extra” streaming service at a time. Once we’ve watched what we want, I cancel and we go on to the next one for a while.

The thing is, who is re-inventing the wheel when it comes to writing the plot. Those are pretty much cut out for most programs of any genre. It comes down to the cast and how it is interpreted, cinematography & picture.

I used to work in the movie industry, late 70s to mid 80s. I was preparing dailies.
We were laughing when they said "very soon there will be no more film".

I also watched 'The Madison', 1st season. I wasn't sure what that was supposed to be, but by the end of the season the structure was more recognizable. I like Kurt Russell, also Michelle Pfeiffer. She is a great drama queen and the set up for his role is quite interesting.

'Landman' has enjoyed instant popularity. Of course, Billy Bob steals the show. Waiting for the next season.

It’s on our list. I’ll be firing up Paramount Plus soon and we’ll watch it.

I changed the title of the thread. It should open up the thread for all, to post their favorite flick (Western or Modern Western genre), not limited to Premium Streaming apps. Should be more fun. Sorry, I didn't think sooner.

Fun subject though. I think we all like the western genre.

I watched the first 3 or 4 seasons of Yellowstone, but never finished the series. I have watched the first few episodes of the Marshall and thought it to be fairly good. Have not seen any of the new Dutton series and can only imagine it to be similar to Yellowstone. So I'm not eager to watch it really, even though I like Beth's firey character.
On a different note and altogether different genre I really like the series Tulsa King and I'm not really a Stallone fan.
Patiently waiting the new season.

Naturally, Western-Genre shows, movies and possible live events find an audience in this group of people.
I had this fascination since I was a little boy. It never quite left me. My GF still watches 'Gunsmoke' and 'Rifleman'.
Some time ago I enjoyed 'Longmire'. I started and couldn't stop watching.

Deadwood was a favorite. Not for everyone. Some found the language too harsh, or the nudity too much. I thought the writing was top notch, the acting and character development outstanding. There were those you loved and those you hated, which spoke to the actors abilities on both sides of the coin.

Justified was a modern western. Good guys and bad guys, lawmen and criminals. Again, top notch writing and acting. A lot of the cast from the first carried over to the second.

I have watched several of the new western series, and liked them a lot.
Can't remember the names off the top of my head, poor memory, old age and too many surgeries.

One was about a Tribal Police Agency, just released a new season, but not streaming on hulu, prime, or netflix yet.

I remember one good one that had Lou Diamond Phillips as a bar owner in it.
(IMDB is a lot of help, that would be Longmire.)

All Were Good.

We've watched a bunch of these too, and enjoyed them. I'm also a fan of Tulsa King, and despite it's unrealistic plot lines, I can just go with it, like a James Bond movie, as just entertainment. Not sure why the Taylor Sheridan stuff doesn't do that for me, but it doesn't.

I spent the time to go back and watch all of the Dexter episodes, and all of the extra add-on versions on that series, and thoroughly enjoyed them. If anyone hasn't watched those, I'd suggest watching.

Another that we're watching of late is called M.I.A. It's the typical revenge story, and often moves too fast, with implausible advances to suit the plotline, but so far, so good.

I've had Justified suggested a number of times, we'll have to add that to our list.
