I turned pens and other items for about 25 years and really enjoyed it. A year ago my legs started giving out and I could no longer stand at the lathe so I gave it up and I sure do miss it.

All I can say, Whaler, is that your "Turnings" photos are phenomenal -- top-notch work!!
It would be hard to select a "favorite." But I did manage to narrow it to your "MapleCalig" pen. Beautiful instrument.

Absolutely fine craftsmanship. I love the shaving brush, reminds me of my dad, he would let me pretend to shave with his when I was very young.

I remember this, did you post this on the .org site before? They are works of art.

My late Dad shaved with an old fashioned double edged blade - safety razor, soap in a shaving mug and a pure bristle shaving brush.

My late husband used that type of blade - safety razor with the same set up as my late Father on and off but he still used a Norelco electric shaver too. He did not have a heavy or dark beard to deal since he had blond straight hair that turned silver in his 40's.

I think that the stainless steel blades used in old fashioned safety razors gave and still give a better shave too.

My MT husband has two very old straight razors but he does not use them.

I used to do a lot of turning. Haven't done much in a while. I do plan on getting back to it sooner or later.

I enjoyed hollow forms and bowls.
