Just checking in

I haven’t been on for a while. Have some serious back issues. Don’t have a choice need a fusion. Two spine specialists agree. I was down and out with sciatica pain that they couldn’t help. Tried a cortisone shot in lumbar area, cortisone orally, gabapentin which I had a reaction to it. The MRI didn’t look good. They’re going to have me get a CT for more information. I won’t be able to do much of anything other than walk periodically, limited sitting and that’s going to be after some rehab. Won’t be driving for 4 to 6 weeks. Well at least it will be while the weathers good. I’ll be able to sit outside on the deck, walk on the sidewalks on my street which is pretty quiet.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Fortunate my boss said what ever time I need to get right is fine. Not a lot of part time jobs like that.

Take care everyone, stay safe,
Guide

I feel your pain. Back problems are very familiar to me. Have been for years.
Best wishes to you. I hope you find some relief.

Prayers for the best possible outcome. My back isn’t that bad yet, but does put me down for a week when it decides to. Best of luck to you and the surgeon.

I have the same problem. I use the Sciatica belt with ice quite often in the evening.
Not fun. Getting old is a bitch.

Good luck, Guide.

With a little luck and surgical skill, you could recover well enough to continue enjoying your work.

I had spinal fusion in my lower back in 2012. Unfortunately, it didn't help me. I can still walk, but not for very long before the pain forces me to sit; and I can't bend over anymore, so I've had to adjust to that. I don't take showers because I can't reach my feet; I take baths instead. I live alone, so I try to be careful. I'm OK and pain-free (mostly) sitting and lying down, but standing and walking are difficult. Changing the bedsheets is a painful challenge that I literally manage on my knees (I'm reminded because yesterday was laundry day).

I really hope you're outcome is much better than mine. Keep us posted.

Best wishes for a positive outcome. I've had my share of back issues and sciatica, so I understand you pain. I was very fortunate the last spinal injection worked wonders and I've been about 95% pain free for 8 years.
