I don’t watch it enough anymore to have a favorite.

Well, there’s a 3 wide crash…

I watched it. Thought it was 199 laps of boredom with the last lap exciting.

It was a typical 500 with lots of crashes. I enjoyed it.
We were going to leave this morning heading south but just weren't ready so decided to
wait one more day. We'll be on the road in the morning.

My high school was a stone's throw from the eastern turn of the speedway. You could hear the cars practicing in class. I think I only went to 2 races growing up in Daytona. Just never got into car racing, or sports in general. I did go to a few motorcycle races as a teenager when I was riding.

I can remember seeing the remnants of the old speedway on the beach. I'm sure my dad took some pictures of it, but I don't remember seeing any when I went through his stuff after he passed. I would love to be able to spend a few hours photographing it a few years after it closed in 58. I'm not sure when it got leveled, but I can remember my dad pointing it out from the car when driving down A1A, and seeing the remains of the stands. I have a very vague recollection of seeing it from the beach side, but it's been a long time ago.

Those last few laps sure were eventful. I was impressed by how the car that won ran those last few laps. He seemed to be very strategic in when he made his move, and it worked out well for him, although it looked like the rest of the top 10 finishers crossed the line sideways or backwards.

You always know there is going to be a crash at the end and I always hope that nobody gets seriously hurt. I tuned in with 9 laps to go. Love the strategy on the pit stops at the end of the race.

The cars were too bunched up after the last caution and all remained within a second for a lot of laps until green-flag pit stops. Too much downforce and too little horsepower for an exciting race. The stages add nothing. Bring back DW and the rest of the cheaters and I’ll watch the full season again.

Winning a race should not come down to whoever survives the big crash. Should be about driver skills combined with the fastest car.

Too many of the ending laps were run three wide at 90% throttle. It wasn’t racing it was burning up laps. Why don’t they just reduce the race to five laps. Or better yet get rid of the big high banked ovals and go with short tracks and road courses. All in the southeast. Maybe run them with a case of whiskey in the trunk and you can’t break any Mason jars.
