This is Crazy

Post by Cowboy Gun Fan » Tue Jan 13, 2026 6:01 pm

I always wanted a Winchester Model 94. A good while back I finally bought a pre-'64 in 30-30. But I never shot it. Now I've shot many different guns through the years, in 22, 38, 45, 410 and 16 gauge but not only never shot this one, I've never shot a rifle any larger than 22 before. Until today. A nice sunny 57 degree day and I had a little time to spend. I wanted to shoot at something, so I made this simple cardboard target, set it up in my shooting area, stepped back a ways and below is my first ever shot. I measured it afterwards and it was about 13 yards:

I have a pre 64 94 in 32 Special and a Marlin 336 in 30 30. Both shoot well but are certainly not tack drivers.
One thing I will note is the do kick!

I just loaded 3 rounds.

After saving the target, I just shot the last two wild into my shooting area, lol.

(I shoot down into a "holler" in the back of my land).

I'll load 6 next time and shoot them all at a target.

Just to show my initial luck wrong, lol.

Your comment about only shooting only 3 rounds reminded me of this commercial.
