I’ve decided to build a small gun cabinet, nothing special. Only have five guns two shotguns Remington 20 Gauge, will have Henry Single shot ..410 and two rifles Henry Single shot .243 and a Ruger American .22 Bolt action and Browning .22 Buckmark pistol. Will have a draw on the bottom for pistol and some small range items. Ammo is locked up in another cabinet. I’m thinking of using Hard Maple, Dados and rabbits with Walnut dowels. Soft close Blum hinges have oiled bronze handles and oiled bronze locks. I’ll finish it with Odies oil. Looking forward to building it this spring need a new motor for my table saw. Wasn’t to bad to design used Sketch Up. I have a drafting degree so find it fun to do. Thought I’d share what I’m up to. If I get a chance I’ll do a sketch show what I hope is going to look like.

I also had a small project that I had wanted to do for some time. We have many sets of keys for vehicles, house, barn, and shop that usually were spread out on top of a buffet next to the door to the mud room. I wanted some way to get these out of sight and arranged for convivence so I designed and built this small cabinet which works out perfectly. I do a lot of wood working in my shop and I enjoy creating this type thing.

Nice job, like the piano hinge rather than a couple of small cheap one. White with poly or lacquer? My wife’s bought me some nice hand tools form
lie nielsen toolworks. Great stuff. I work mostly with Maple, Walnut my favorite and some cherry. I did make a colored pencil holder for my art. Made it with Caribbean Rosewood. I did four coats of Odies oil sanded to 600 grit. Looks like it marble not wood and super heavy. But that’s hard to get and super expensive.

It's white oak with a Urethane finish from Minwax. All of the woodwork in our home is white oak.
I'm looking foreword to seeing your project.

Very nice work. I do some woodworking in the small shop behind the farmhouse, for stuff we need around the house or presentation boxes and the like. A very nice job.

A Sketch Up drawing of the cabinet. 62” high 19” wide and 12” deep. Opening on the bottom is 9” high, 17-1/2” wide and 11-5/8” deep. Not sure if I’ll use one full length door and keep the bottom area as a shelf or door over the top half and a full extension draw on the bottom are. I’ll loose some capacity if it’s a draw but a full extension draw is nice plus I can look both with different keys. I’ve got a couple of bronze oiled draw pulls the are really nice and both the door and draw with be soft closing.
