Lost my best friend

I lost my best friend last night, he passed away at midnight. He asked a couple weeks ago if when it got a little warmer if we could go to the range I belong to and maybe shot one of my rifles. I said sure I’ve got two 22s we can plink away for couples hours then go get a burger. He said sounds great. When I had two different surgeries and was home bound he would call and ask if it was ok to stop by and see me. Told me he missed me. Now I’m the one missing him. All I can say is I honestly don’t think I’ve ever met a kinder, warmer or more caring person. Sorry had to air my feelings.

Don't even think about it. I'm 84 and have lost so many good friends now that I'm just getting used to it.
I have a funeral Wednesday for a past friend that played a round of gold one day, and died the next.
It hurts. No one is immune.

I've always had friends that were older than myself, probably because I don't deal well with immaturity. I'm up there myself these days and I've lost a good number of mine. It hard, but I find that when I sit up at night and can't sleep, the memories come easily and we visit again. Enjoy them... They are treasures. My friends will always be there.

Sorry for your loss, condolences to you and the family.
Our SIL's grandfather passed away around 1 this morning, also.

So sorry for your loss. True friends are hard to find and when you lose them...it hurts terribly.

I am sorry for your loss. I am also at the age that many friends have passed. But there are friends and then there are good friends. Good friends passing is especially hard. My sincere condolences .

It is hard to find a really good friend and much harder when one passes away. Take care and think of the great times you both shared.
I'm losing a great friend too a little bit each day.

Sorry for your loss and talking about here on this site is welcomed. On a much lesser scale when my dog died a couple of years ago writing about it here sure helped me with my grief. Enjoy your memories of your best friend.

Very good point. Several years ago, I called upon these forum members to be my sponsor, (so to speak), to help me quit smoking. I was a heavy smoker and didn't think I could ever quit. It was with the help of these members and their kind words and experiences that helped greatly to achieve success.
As Hatcdog said and is true, talking about such things is welcome on this forum. Part of why it is unique.

I am sorry for your loss.

When someone close to me has passed, I think of the General Patton quote:

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived."

From family, soldiers I served with, and great friends who guided me in life, I thank God they had lived and I was blessed to know them.
