After more than two and a half DECADES in various forms of LE, I know what's actually out there and it's only getting worse. The liberal courts and prosecutors, and the restrictions put on the prison system making it less punitive have greatly contributed to the rise in serious crime. The liberal laws making petty crimes no longer crimes aren't helping.
We moved to an area where the homeowners and citizens have more rights than the criminals.

That last few years in VA I saw a number of GREAT officers retire or leave Law Enforcement entirely due to the revolving doors on the Justice System. A really good Trooper we had working our county left and took a job flying for the DEA in South Florida. He said if he was going to risk his life, it wasn't going to be for a system where he busts a guy for six felonies and he's back out in two months because everything was reduced to minor offenses in a plea deal. IT happened too many times and he sold his house and property and left.

Chicago mostly peaceful stats for 2024.

http://heyjackass.com/
A breakdown of the year's idiocy shows:

538 shot & killed
28 beaten
28 stabbed
15 killed via other means
18% shooting fatality rate
9 shot by police, 3 fatally
27 self defense, 8 fatally
94 homicide-linked arrests
Averaged 8.1 people shot per day
29 mass shootings – 153 shot, 22 fatally
364/366 days recorded a shooting
78 days were homicide-free
21% clearance rate through 10/31
582 in serious or critical condition
542 (89%) males killed vs 67 females
453 (75%) Blacks, 134 Hispanics, 21 other
Average age of a homicide victim – 32
Average age of a shooting victim – 30
37 children 12 and younger shot, 5 fatally
Homicide age range: 0-74
Team Englewood won w/ 221 total shot
6th District won w/ 68 homicides
29 expressway shootings, 8 fatal
174 grazed
47 selfies
120 Shot-In-The-Ass

Our thought this time last was since 2024 was an election year and election years have historically performed poorly (or well depending on your viewpoint), we forecasted 775-800 homicides with another 3250 +/- shot and wounded as a possible outcome for 2024. We were surprised, yet thankful the DNC didn't turn out to be the shitshow we and everyone else expected, which fell in line with the other trends over the year.

With our pro-criminal mayor and functionally retarded ruling class along with the SAFE-T Act in play, we feel we're in a bottoming process. While it's possible for homicides and shootings to drift lower, we believe we'll be hanging around the 600 homicides, 3000 total people shot levels for some time to come. There is also the ever-present possibility of a lifelong loser getting taken out by a cop somewhere where the media will try and whip up some ist-a-phobe-related anger and violence (see 2014, 2016 & 2020).

The one Trooper I referred to was a really good guy. An Army Reserve Captain, Blackhawk Pilot, with three tours in combat. He had bought property about 20 miles from us in Rural VA about 90 minutes west of Downtown Richmond when he was assigned to our area after graduating from the State Police Academy. Miss T and I, along with my "Rabbi" who became his neighbor with his purchase, helped put up his huge Quonset Style building on the concrete slab he had poured first thing. This building would hold all his equipment coming in as his house was being built. His family would remain in the old location until the house was completed. He built an enclosed / insulated space across the back and lived in that while the house went up to keep an eye on the place while he worked the county. His Patrol car, family car, tractor, accessories and all the personal property had plenty of room inside this structure. It was alarmed from the start. (Gee, wonder why?) This space became his "Home Office" after the house was completed.

He worked hard for the county and the State Police. He was Firm, but Fair and listened to the people he stopped. He was active at the High School and the local church. Unlike those Troopers assigned to areas with major interstates who worked mostly traffic, he did a lot of work WITH the Sheriff's Office, backing them on calls, working traffic accidents on lonely roads, serving warrants and the like. He became very familiar with the County's regulars on the criminal side, and after arresting the one subject numerous times for everything from reckless driving / excessive speed to domestic battery, he finally caught him dirty and wrote six felonies including assault on an officer, assault on a minor and four major drug charges. Two months later the subject was walking down the side of the road as bold as brass. To say this was the last straw was an understatement. He drove to the courthouse and pulled the records and did a bit of research. That weekend, I saw him at the Friday Night Football Game where his daughter was Cheering. Miss T and I were at the game as EMTs and were leaning on the fence with the Trooper. He told us he had put his Farm on the market and accepted the offer from the DEA. He would be flying their helos and they wanted him bad enough they would pay the moving expenses and he was leaving as soon as the school year ended. They set up a sponsor for the wife and she was already down looking at houses. Liberal Justice System hurts the Communities in more ways than people realize.

Here's my own tin-foil hat pet theory about the weirdness.

For the past 100 years or so, but particularly since we started putting up satellites in the '60's, the entire planetary population has been subjected to ever increasing volumes and intensity of RF and microwave energies from satellite transmissions to local wifi and cell phones. This is something that has never occurred previously in human history. It has to have some influence on human and animal evolution over the generations simply because our DNA must somehow evolve to deal with this new form of energy. That takes many generations. Ancient life evolved organs such as eyes as ears to take advantage of light and sound in order to survive and prosper as a species. Many did not, and became extinct as a result of their inability to evolve and adapt. Now we must evolve new organs for this new form of energy. It will not be, and never has been, a smooth transition over the next hundreds or thousands of years. It is just beginning, but there is no escaping it.

my first career was 30.02 years working in NC's prison system .... yes that number is correct because it took 30 years service to qualify for full retirement.... the last half was spent at the maximum security prison for females .... yep, that included "Death Row" .... I have no clue how many people I worked with but do know that most folks cannot understand some of their thinking processes .... whether at home or on the road, I make it a practice to have a means for protection near at hand .... that said, one cannot always be perfectly safe

Well so far all quiet in the neighborhood. For last couple nights and days the cops have been patrolling the area but as usual I keep something very handy.

Crime in my immediate area is low but there are pockets in the towns that have crime. Domestic violence and bar fights are the biggest crimes. I figure if I stay single and don’t go out drinking I’ll be safe.

That's one tough looking cat! I wouldn't want to mess with it.
