I took a new kid shooting today for his first time. He did great. We shot at 10 yards with my EMP and my HK VP9.

It is a nice range (Livermore -Pleasanton Rod and Gun Club) and was packed on Election Saturday. There was a waiting list already before the first live fire session. what you see in the pictures is the Hand gun only section. They just opened up this little 10 station section a few weeks ago. It's standing only. 10-15-25 yards.

On the other side there are 30 more stations that are Rifle and Pistol @ 25-50-75 and 100 yards. Sitting only.

It is crazy crowded now due to two major ranges being shut down in the East Bay area in the last six months. It's the only outdoor range in the area now.

Top job, Coach! :D It's always good to bring new people into the sport, and that range looks great. I'm sure it won't be his last visit! ;) :D

Two good choices of pistols. I'm not sure how you managed to get that VP9 in CA though! Was it during the wonderful days of SSE?

Anyway, I agree. Looks like he did well and had fun.

I got the VP9 through a PPT from Calguns.net. Post SSE, I was a little late to the party.

You can still find them for sale on Calguns. Look in the classified section. They are going for $1,000-$!,300....Ouch I know but if you want one they can be had. I paid up and I'm glad I did. No regrets.

I'm holding out hope that one day soon I can move out of CA and pick up off roster handguns no problem!

They will just be called "Handguns" in a free state.

Exactly! I can't wait. Almost had a job transfer to Virginia but it didn't work out.

I have a list in mind of handguns to buy but first I'll load up on 30 round glock and AR mags.

If and when you move you should sell any off roster guns you have for a premium. Keep them in the state.

You should be able to replace them and use the profit for ammo.
