Re: My kid sister's new ride
Sweet, I would drive it. I'd have trouble getting out, but I'd drive it.
Funny isn't it. Years ago our long time dealer got in a beautiful 350z, ( I said it was a hile ago, geez.) It was in the Black Cherry color I loved, leather interior, black wheels, without all the chrome everywhere. It had the ground effects package and the fat tire package that made it look so mean. It was perfect.
I sat in the car and the seat hugged me like it missed me. My credit union had pre-approved me for more than the MSRP and we were long term customers of the dealer, I knew we could get a good price. It was a car I had wanted for a while, and I looked out at Miss T.
Miss T had told me if I wanted a sports car, I had earned one, putting family first all these years, and my truck had nearly 300,000 miles on it. She grinned.
"You look great in it." She said with her evil grin. "Now, try and get OUT, gimpy."
She loved me so.
"No Problem," I said confidently. I hopped out, in my mind. I started to hop right out. Then tried to twist my ... Legs and hips, roll my shoulders... The seat had me in a Brazilian Ju Jitsu hold and the pedals were tying up my feet like Boa Constrictors.
Five minutes later, we were looking at new trucks.
Reality sucks.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Re: My kid sister's new ride
The selling point for my car was ease of entry and exit. It is great getting old.

Re: My kid sister's new ride
Exactly why I drive my trucks, step in, step out, and I can SEE so much more than when I was driving the Charger. I bought one because I drove one on Duty, but I quit working PATROL partly because I was tired of getting in and out all day with 40 pounds of equipment on. LOL.

One thing about Corvettes most of the time you find them in great condition with low miles as per BM's report of trying to crawl out of a similar type ride!
Re: My kid sister's new ride
Sis has a couple other vehicles - an F350 dually to haul her horses around, and a small town car. She got this as a 65th birthday present to herself.fortyshooter wrote: βSun Sep 08, 2024 7:39 pmOne thing about Corvettes most of the time you find them in great condition with low miles as per BM's report of trying to crawl out of a similar type ride!

I like her already, reminds me of Miss Tina. She drove one of the Sergeant's old Grand Marquis for years as her daily driver. Leather interior, nice trunk organizer, and as a bonus, pursuit pak.

Nice ride that Sis got there. Might be worth the struggle getting in and out. Maybe she'll let you enjoy it on occasion.

Not unless she drives it down here from WA. I'm too old to making the trip up there.markiver54 wrote: βSun Sep 08, 2024 8:47 pmNice ride that Sis got there. Might be worth the struggle getting in and out. Maybe she'll let you enjoy it on occasion.![]()

My wife's 17 tuned Focus RS. We call it her roller skate car. 400 hp, 400lbft

My 2013 f150, 3.5l eco boost. (just hit 241k this weekend.) original turbos, transmission, ball joints, tie rods etc. Only thing I've done is put new shocks and springs. Though it is time that I cleaned the carbon off the valves.

Re: My kid sister's new ride
Focus RS was a hot little machine and then Ford quit making them. Sounds like you have had great luck with that truck and the 3.5 Eco boost. I hear a lot of issues regarding carbon buildup in the intake ports/valve. Then at some point Ford added an extra fuel injector in the intake to help keep the valves clean. We have a 2011 Ford Edge with the standard type V6 with 60,000 miles still running great and we will keep it. Take off to quick at a light and it lights up the front tires!

That's a strange place to put a lic. plate!

it's a tow hook mount. that way we didn't have to drill into the bumper, and block airflow into the intercooler
