Among other ballistic challenges, is the Coriolis effect. In the 9sec the bullet is in flight in this competition, it can cause you to miss the target by a considerable distance. How much Coriolis effect is present depends on the direction you are shooting and your exact latitude and longitude.

Amazing! It's hard to imagine hitting anything at those distances. Very interesting.

The 2 gun rules require you to fire 2 identically prepared (hopefully) rifles in separate 5 shot strings of fire at the same target in under 10 minutes per string. Hopefully all shots are in the 6" bullseye. The winner is the shooter with highest avg. score of the combined 2 strings. So it's not a case of dumb luck, or walking your shots in. Gotta do it right from the first to last shot. Very tough competition against the other 40 or 50 shooters.

Wow... In high power competition in the Corps, we shot open sights at 600 yards, and I always thought the 600 separated the men from the boys. We had Match grade M1 Garands or M14s and Match ammo and I did pretty well. The M16s back then didn't handle 600 yards with the ammo we had. (1980s)
The standard known distance qualification course in the old days was 200 to 500 yards with iron sights and the M16... I loved the 500 yard line... It was gravy for me.
1,000 yards? Nope... Not on my best day. As Clint would say, "A man's gotta know his limitations.".

Impressive shooting.
