We never get any trick or treaters......I think it the driveway may scare them............

Nah, this is actually a few driveways down, and this is permanent. I think the kids just avoid the area

That reminds me, at the Canadian National Exhibition one time when I was a kid I got to sit in the "Munster Coach". They had the original 60's Batmobile too but you couldn't get in it. I guess they were worried you might set off the Bat-Rockets or the Anti-Penguin smoke screen.

Re: The trick-or-treat thread.
When our kids were young, there were some other kids in the area and people would actually come around. Now, all the kids are grown up and gone (shoot, they are in their 30s) and everybody around is old goats like us.RanchRoper wrote:Where we live: zero. Too far out of town. I bought 24 bags of the fun-size candy. I put ten pieces into a sandwich bag and will hand them out. It made 50 bags with a bit left over. Each kid will get about $2.50 in candy.Jdl447 wrote:We had trick or treat yesterday, bought 2 bags of KitKat,rained no one came. I'm oh well it won't go to waste.

Yep, that is why I get 50 to 60 kids every year.Jdl447 wrote:Bet your house is popular with the kids.Sir Henry wrote:I bought 24 bags of the fun-size candy. Re: The trick-or-treat thread.
When we first moved here in '89, we bought a bunch of candy and turned on the front porch lights. No one came, lol. I ate the candy myself. So far it's been 27 years and still no one yet, lol. Although we got a driveway similar to what Henry88 posted and we have a "No Trespassing" sign to boot. There have been some years that we didn't even think about Halloween. If someone knocked on the door we would had said "who the heck is that" ?? !!
A lot different to when I was a kid in the city though. I would fill up a pillow case, head back home to empty it and head back out for a second load. In the meantime, my Mother would run out of candy and would start to give out mine. I was not too happy, lol.

None this year, good thing I like snickers bars.
We moved here twenty three years ago. The first five years or so there were a bunch of kids. It has tapered off over the years last year I think we saw three or four.

My wife put out a bowl and sign saying happy Halloween. She wasn't feeling well and assumed kids would each take one. Oddly the bowl emptied pretty quickly! When I got home I saw what happened and immediately went to buy more candy. After all of that, only five more kids came! Probably had six total including the kid that emptied the first bowl!

I live about 15 miles from a small town.
Driveway is a half a mile long. Been here 30 years and never had the first trick or treater.

They started arriving at about 5:45. We turned off the porch light at 8:00 p.m.; then counted the remaining candy. We had 98 kids, including a few teens who just couldn't let it go. We've been here for 30 years and it's pretty much been the same every time.
