The methods are new, but the scams are as old as they come. If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't true.

It seems like the older that we get, the more some things seem to fade (memory). At our gun club, we got hit for around $300 for a domain name renewal. Typically, renew is about $25 a year. The president uses the club's card to pay for it. Last year, he paid for two years. We got a renewal in the mail for around $300. The president gave it to the treasure to pay, and he did.

Some background, we went through a mess, a few years back, when the previously president and vice president resigned. And, the login for the domain name was not turned over. We ended up getting a slightly different name. So, some people are on edge about the club's domain name. Yet, a lot of older people seem to fall victim to scams. I suspect that is one reason why the scams just keep coming.

A lot of these scams seem to target seniors. I think that a desire to remain independent, and limited familiarity with modern tech are keys for the scammers.
There's a special place in hell for those D-bags.

We are getting four or five calls a day now from CVS Pharmacy for a Fantastic drug plan. I suspect the calls originate from india since every caller has a name like Bill or Pete but a heavy indian accent. They read the same script, but some get very rude if you say thank you no.

Six months ago I ordered a book online titled ‘How To Avoid Online Scams’ and it’s still not here.

I just got the Post Office package scam texted to me this morning. It certainly is making the rounds.
