The basic radar deflecting science was published in 1936. Turning that scientific paper into a flying airplane started with the Have Blue DARPA project in '76 when they let a black contract to Lockheed to build 2 Have Blue demonstrators, one of which crashed. First flight of the F-117 production model was '81.

So what we see today could well have been born over 40 years ago. Those UFO's that have been in the news for the past few decades might not be space aliens at all, but merely unannounced technology. There are parallel technology tracks that are constantly being explored. Some bear fruit, others fall by the wayside.

If you've ever seen one, the F-117 has a different "sound" when flying. Maybe that "exhaust" thing, don't know. Seen a couple over the Death Valley/Stovepipe Wells corrider. Unique looking craft.
