She developed a love for horses 2 years ago so now being older my son has set her up with a local ranch that teaches horse riding and caring.
They also have to learn how to saddle up and care for the horse after the ride and she seems to be enjoying it all so far. A lot of new muscle training for her to properly ride one! Looking great!

That brings back memories of my oldest daughter who got into the "Green Hunter Competition" when she was 11 years old. When she was twelve she won the championship for the county with her Appaloosa mare that she trained herself.
That was long ago and she's a Psychologist now in upstate New York.
It was good training for her as well as her horse.
She tells me that she's still my little girl and I love her to pieces.

She is a sweetheart. She's almost 60 now and has a bad hip so she limps, but she still comes to see us about twice a
year and she and Carol, (who is not her real mom), go treasure hunting in thrift shops and have a ball.
My daughters are my treasures. My sons.................well, let's just say they are males.

Fortyshooter, the lessons and discipline they learn from that kind of horsemanship will be valuable in later life. I think my daughter learned how to be a Psychologist by training that horse.
I doubt you will ever regret what she's doing now.
We had two Appaloosas and I used to go riding with her. If you don't think you're too old go along and have fun.
As for me, I'm too old now.

Miss T learned to ride early on, showing Arabs for a big ranch owner. The owner's daughter couldn't show the horses, but knew how to ride well, and taught Tina well enough that she won, A Lot. Tina and our three girls were into horses and she offset the costs by managing barns, teaching riding lessons and training horses early in our marriage and eventually we had the space for our own barn and pasture. She still taught lessons and trained horses. Tina taught equine classes for the local 4H. Two of our girls grew out of horses and moved on, the middle child never did.

She trains horses and owns her own boarding stable ... loves it. Up until her health became an issue, she showed her horses and those of an elderly boarder. She didn't care which class, English, Western, Halter, or some costume class... (She'd design and make the costume and enter, and often won.)



Her love of horses was instilled by her mom, and is still as strong as ever. If she isn't competing, she is working with the 4H, helping plan/run the shows, or working in her barn. It keeps her going.
