Hi All, it’s been a little while but I’m back, and it feels great. I’ve got a real dilemma going on. I’m fixin to pull the trigger on a new leaver gun, my dream is getting an 1873 Winchester new production, they’re made by Miroku, and Miroku makes great rifles, I have an 1892 Winchester made by them. But a friend I served with in Nam, his health is failing, so he gave me all his guns and ammo. In total 6000 rnds from .22 lr, to 41 mag. There’s a total of 1000 rnds of store bought 41 mags, so I’m also thinking a 41 mag in a leaver gun would be nice too. To my knowledge Henry only make a 41 mag in the Big Boy Steel, and in the new side gate Big Boy classic. But I really like the new case harden Henry’s, but to my knowledge they don’t make that gun in 41 mag! So I’m really up in the air as to should I get the 1873, or a leaver gun chambered for the 41 mag?
Any thoughts?

To the best of my knowledge Henry does not offer the 41 mag in any side gate model.
They do offer in the Bronze and steel and both the carbine and rifle version.
Just no sidegate or a case colored models.
I myself am waiting to see if the new Ruger/Marlin 1894's will be made in 41 mag.
If so I'll be in line for one, I'd really like a 16" or 18" barrel but that may be a real pipe dream.
I'd really be curious to hear how many Henry 41's have been made.

I have an 1894 Marlin in 44 mag, they’re great guns, everything I’ve herd about the Ruger made Marlins has been very positive. Marlin made a 41 mag, the 1894 S they’re JM stamped, if you could get your hands on one of those you would be a very fortunate guy.

Priced higher than I will pay, have you seen what they are bringing.
I refuse to pay two prices for ANYTHING.
That's how I ended up with the third Henry.
It's okay, but it's definitely not a 1894.

Im a 41 mag lover and its snubbed regularly by gun MFG. If you want a 41 mag with a lever on it and dont want to mortgage the house to own one a Henry is the choice and like Randy said only in the steel or brass BB version. I hope Ruger comes with one in the 1894 and I will buy one.

I have had the pleasure of owning both a Marlin and Henry 41 mag and in my opinion they were equal in quality and function. No longer have the Marlin but the Henry is still here.

I have to ask why you chose the Henry over the Marlin?
Other than make a good bit of money on it, I truly don't understand.

It’s a sad story indeed. I had a pretty nice collection of Marlins at one time. In 2015 we decided to build a new house which was crazy as we had just both retired. Of course we went way over budget on costs so I sold off my Marlin collection. Along with the 1894 FG 41 mag I also had a pistol grip 1894 in 44 mag. This rifle was only produced for two years and I was lucky to snag one on Gunbroker. I had a thing for pistol grip levers. Anyway, I offered up the 41, PG 44 and one other 1894 as a package deal and had a guy buy the package for a nice (for me) price.

I bought the Henry 41 here a few years ago when there was some talk that Henry might discontinue it. While it’s still available I’m happy I did as it’s a fun rifle to shoot.

I understand "completely" now.
A man's got to do what he has to, to take care of himself and family.

I love .41 Mag too, but have never owned one. My immediate switch from a 1911A1 shooter to a wheel gun fan came with a trip to the range with a friends father who brought his Gen 3 Colt SAA in .41 Mag. It was an epiphany moment.

To answer the OPs question, given all that ammo, I’d buy a Henry in .41 and go shooting. It’s what your buddy would want!
