It was the same with me. They charge an exorbitant amount and then settle for a lot less. I also paid for the eye drops.
The eye clinic that did mine had a conveyer belt of old folks getting them done. It looked like they did one about every
half hour. I guess if you do volume you can make money at it.
The clinic I went to does 46 each day. That is if no other surgeries are scheduled. The first day two other surgeries were done so only 23 cataracts were removed. The second time they did 46. At $1,638 times 46 that’s $75,348 a day they bring in. And that is just the surgery clinic.

I had a doctors appointment at the Madison VA Hospital yesterday. I drove down the night befor and the VA put me up in a nearby motel for the night. I also spent another night because I couldn’t drive for another day.

After a day of tests I saw the doctor in the afternoon. There are five main options available and three were recommended to me. Since my stage 2 kidney cancer is low grade they regraded it to stage 1B. The first course of action would be to do nothing as kidney cancer is slow growing. My doctor recommend that I do something because even though I’m 74 I’m otherwise very healthy. The second action is to have surgery to remove just the cancer although because of the placement they may have to remove the entire kidney. The third action is to break it up with a laser. It’s less recommended because of the size of my cancer. They can only break up very small cancers. The fourth and fifth treatments are only for stages 3 and 4.

My life expectancy is only reduced slightly because of the cancer and if I have surgery it will return to the average expectancy.

I also have something on my liver which has not had a biopsy.

The real good news is my vision is 20/20 and I can drive at night.

For whatever you chose to do Gene I wish you the best. Anything to do with cancer is evil. Im missing a close friend here in Texas due to it.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I had another patch of tests yesterday and have surgery scheduled for April 23rd. They will do a robotic partial nephrectomy of my kidney. Usually they limit it to smaller growths but decided to do the robotic procedure because I’m otherwise in excellent health. My bloodwork, heart and lungs are very healthy. Because I have a larger growth the doctor said it will take five hours to remove the growth. He could cut me open and remove it in less than two hours.

My survival rate should be normal and chances are I’ll not have a reoccurring kidney growth. I have a 90% chance of living another ten years.
