Going to sit out the opener of pheasant season

Yesterday on the way home I saw some pheasants in the fields and then I remembered season comes in this Saturday. It is always a circus in the game lands for at least the first half of the day so I think I will stay home and visit with my daughter and SIL coming up from Md. Probably hit a few LGS while they are here. I have had pellets from a shotgun hit me in the back of my hunting jacket fired from a distance by pheasant hunters in Chambersburg one year and it will send chills up your spine. Far enough away the jacket stopped them. I also got shot in the leg one year by a rabbit hunter on a season opener that didn't look before shooting that went through my hunting boot and the pellets are still in my leg. I may go out this afternoon and try to add a few squirrels to the ones I got yesterday. Going to make squirrel gravy and freeze some for later. I sometimes go out later on the first day and hunt the areas that some hunters over look and pick up a few birds. I like to hunt the spots that look like there would not be any birds in that small area. I can remember on time walking through a wide open woods near Carlisle to get to some fields and the only thing there for anything to hide under was a old car hood and out from under it came a big old rooster as I was passing by. He took me by surprise and the first shot was maybe fired in self defense but got him on the second shot. Have a nice weekend and be safe.

I'm glad your were not seriously injured. You are beginning to sound a little gun shy but I can understand why. :(
