Seriously, ONE gun. You could own the gun of your dreams and cost wasn't an issue, you would own that gun, and have the gun and the ammunition to shoot it.... what do you think it would be?

At first I thought my choice might be some VERY significant historical piece... belonging to some major historical character. Then, after some thought, I realized THAT gun would sit in a case that I would take out to show the rare visitor and I would worry all the time it might get stolen. It might even cause me to rent a safe deposit box and keep it there.

No, ONE gun and all the ammo paid for, I'd want a shooter. It would need to be something special, I'd always wanted. But something I would shoot on a regular basis, and wouldn't be afraid to shoot... a lot. I remembered that a gun came up for auction several years ago... but was WAY out of my price range. John Wayne's Single Action and gun belt, the one HE wore in most of his westerns. That would be my first Choice.

Third choice would be one of the actual firing "Quigley" rifles from "Quigley Down Under." I believe there were three made.




There are some cool ones that might have made my list years ago. A Barrett 50. Can't take the recoil any more. A Dillon Aero would be fun, but I wouldn't want to clean up the brass after a shooting session... (For those who don't know, it's a minigun.) A .338 Lapua, again, not up to the recoil these days. Same with the highly engraved Over and Under Citori Shotguns I always admired.

As a single action fan and shooter, my one gun would be one of the Freedom Arms silhouette models, probably a rimfire. That way I could shoot it without the need to take up reloading, again. These FAs rule in the revolver division of silhouette. I'd get an extra sporting chamber cylinder to go along with the match cylinder. Match cylinders can be tight and hard to reload, so the sporting cylinder would be nice for casual shooting.

Not really. I'd still stay with the rimfire as my first choice. These days, I'm a target shooter and for that, rimfire suits my needs the best. It's mostly what I shoot now with our other guns. In the FA, next would be a centerfire silhouette round, such as the 357 or 44 mag.

Back in the early 80’s I worked for a firearms distributor and we were a Colt distributor. I used to drool over these two but sadly working for a small distributor the wages were more in the Ruger arena.

When I reenlisted in the Corps back in the mid 80s, as an Aviation Electronics Technician on Helos, I received a cash bonus. I bought myself a gift. A pair of sequentially serially numbered pythons, and a Diamondback 22. When my oldest daughter was born a couple years later in Kailua Hawaii, I sold the Pythons to pay for all the baby stuff you had to have, and there was a LOT of it... but have kept the Diamondback. All the kids learned to shoot with that little .22 and love it. Recently I was able to finally add a NIB 1980s Python back to the collection, with an additional Diamondback. Beautiful guns both.

Sweet. I have a Blued 4" Diamondback 22. I looked for a matching .38 Diamondback but the only ones I could find were either outrageously expensive, or in terrible shape. The Python and Diamondback pair I just acquired are both 6" guns in Stainless and satin nickel.

It would be one that one of my early ancestors on these shores owned. Preferably either a matchlock from the 1630's, or a flinter from around 1800. I know they owned such weapons, but they probably don't exist anymore.
