We lost both our parents in a 9 month span.

Sold the house I grew up in. 1068 sq feet, 3br, 1 bath for $825,000. Built in 1954.

Regular house in a standard sub division from the 50’s.

The price of housing in the Bay Area is crazy.

Even with the higher interest rates we got 5 offers over asking.

I don’t know how the young people with regular jobs can buy houses in the Bay Area.

Shocking....amazing how people can pay those prices

Losing both parents within such a short time has to have been an emotional tsunami, Coach. I'm sorry for your loss.

Speculative corporate buyers are investing heavily in residential, single family real estate, driving up the cost of home ownership and inflating the cost of leasing and/or renting single family homes. There is a practical reason that so many more young people currently live with their parents well into their thirties.

We have 2 more houses to sell.

Mom and Dad bought #1 for $15,000 = Sold

#2 for $35,000

#3 for $50,000.

There were 7 people in my house growing up.

No silver spoon for me. More like Plastic forks, paper plates and powdered milk...and cold showers for me being the youngest

All this on a Deputy Sheriff salary.

Mom was busy with us and didn't work.

We had one lowball offer from an investment company.

We sold to a family!

Now take all that cash and move East to East Tenn. or Va, and you could have a nice spread!

I could for sure except there are 5 siblings, so I get 20%.

One of my brothers lives in Crossville Tennessee.

Coach, I can sympathize with you. My parents went in a 10 month spread. My sister lives in another state so it fell to me. I liquidated all the farm equipment myself and sold the farm on my own. I had a local business do an estate sale. They were great. I turned it all over in 4 months.

I also can relate to no silver spoons. They did their best and it was enough.

My condolences on your loss Coach. Very few of us grew up with a silver spoon in our mouths. Most of us , 95-97 percent got where we are at today by hardwork, sacrifice, saving all through our lives. May God bless us all with continued blessings
