While walkin' a trail this morning found stuck inside an old hollowed out tree! Brought it home soaked it in some Kroil wiped off some rust and good as
a new old Cimarron Old Army 44-40!

Wonder it if shoots?

Going to take both to the range next day or so and try a couple loads. I saw Cimarron had one and was ready to order but checked around and found
same revolver at another dealer for less and placed the order.Check out Wholesale Hunter as they have some good stuff there.

You should be questioning why the the gun was hidden. Definitely a deliberate act.

Well the only deliberate act was the trail story I made up. I do that at times! All good as I purchased it thru Wholesale Hunter.

This Cimarron is very realistic looking the old part. There was light rust in some areas along with some in the bore which cleaned out easily.
There is no coating or finish on these original models just bare steel that has had an aging treatment.

It sure looks dated, especially next to the Winchester. Good companion handgun for the rifle.

Had to order up a .447 sized reamer to open up the cylinder chambers couple thousandths so the rounds will slide in easy. It's the neck of case that is a bit snug sliding in. The cylinder throats are fine as a .430 bullet drops in and those loads work great with a typical 429-430 bullet in the rifle.
