Drugs, Guns, and Booze in the same store

Thought that would get y'alls attention.
It's all perfectly legal at the local AF base Exchange. The drugs were my prescription refills from the robot dispenser. After I got those I stopped by the gun counter in the main part of the Exchange to browse a little. Met another old retiree there who was buying a pair of .45 1911's - his first - and had a interesting chat for a few minutes. He was getting a full size RIA and a Tisas Tanker. Good to see the gun counter still doing good. The have a great selection of firearms and ammo. Then picked up some bourbon on the way out.

I am surprised that firearms are still being sold on base. But, that is good!

T&T Guns & Ammo in Selmer TN.
One half of the place is a gun shop, and the other half is a convenience store.
Usually a lot of guns and ammo there.
They sell beer and cigarettes, and at one time made sandwiches.

At the Air force base in SC that our SIL is stationed at,
they have a firearms section at their commissary.

Yep and there is one near Blue Ridge Ga. called McCaysville Drug and Gun I have visited on vacation that has the same setup.

They have a firearm counter at the BX at Charleston AFB.
Unfortunately, I find I can often get a better deal at a one of the local gun stores. One exception was the RIA 1911s they had on clearance a few years ago. I think they were around $350. I had recently purchased my Springfield 1911 and wasn't in the market for another, but at that price, I should have pulled the trigger on one, so to speak.
I have a local gun store that offers lifetime warranty on all guns they sell. If you have a problem, they will either have their gunsmith fix it, or will take care of dealing with and shipping it to the manufacturer for warranty service. That's definitely worth spending a little more for. Just the convenience of not having to hassle with boxing and shipping a firearm back to the manufacturer is worth a good bit to me. I've had a couple guns I've had to ship back, one was a real hassle, the other one I paid $40 this same gun store to take care of it as it wasn't purchased there. That was cheaper than what I would have paid for shipping, and the gun store even took care of calling the manufacturer and dealing with them. Got the gun back with a new barrel and trigger group.

Over the years I have had local gunsmith's that sold guns on the side for a percentage over their cost to cover the FFL hassle, and I used to buy guns thru shotgun news that way. The gunsmith's did all my custom work, built competition guns, and dealt with manufacturers and warranty. Hard to find that these days. The trouble with being in the military back then, at least the Corps, was we moved every three years, like clockwork. Once in a while you might get lucky and your reassignment would be to another squadron on the same base. Teaching squadron from a deploying squadron or vice versa...
