Ford Mach E Mustang SUV

I did something that I never thought I would do.
I bought an EV.
Not to save the planet but because it is a nice car and will fulfill my needs going forward.
My Ford Escape died on me in stop and go traffic on the 5 coming from the Bay Area to Huntington Beach .
Turns out that rodents got to my engine cavity and ate all the heat shield material and who know what else while they nested in the compartment.
It was going to cost over a thousand $ just to clean it out and then see what damage had been done and who knows what that bill would be. I had about 150,000 miles on it but it was well maintained. Or so I thought. I had not even driven 600 miles on it this year.
I already have the infrastructure at my house with Solar panels and a double Tesla power wall and a charger.
So here's my new ride. Has a range of about 250 miles.
My first road trip will be an experience with stops along the way. Once I get it home it will be ideal for my driving habits.
An exterminator is in my near future.

Cool looking Mustang, but wouldn't work well out here where he distances are great... and empty.

Congrats on the new ride. Nothing wrong with an EV especially buying one for the reasons you stated. Love that Frunk.

Wow! That's a neat looking car even for a EV! I wonder what a Boss 351 would look like in it!

This will be a new phase in my life.
I'm now officially retired.
Like I said, I had only driven 600-700 miles in the past 6 months.
My first challenge is going to be driving back up to the Bay Area from So Cal.
I'm jumping in feet first!

To me it’s not a Mustang because it’s not a muscle car. That being said it’s a very cool car. They just gave it the wrong name. It’s wouldn’t work for me here in Wisconsin but it would when I lived in the Seattle area. Congratulations on buying it. Keep us posted on it as you use it.
Since we are talking EV’s I’m thinking of buying an electric bike which would be perfect for me here.

Very nice ride, and definitely a standout from all the Teslas I see around here these days. Congrats!

I agree. It’s a very cool car. I saw one in a parking lot and they are cool in person too.

Coach, congtulations on a nice car. I hope it works well for you.
I've seen a few in person. They never made me think of a Mustang, but looked like nice cars.

Do you have to pay any special road use tax on it? Here in Va. they are planning on some kind of tax for EV's due to a shortfall in gas tax revenues.
They just raised the gas tax here July 1 a few cents.

I know of a few folks that have them and they're OK in the right circumstances.
Getting stuck in a blizzard in Minnesota is not one of them however.
We are looking into electric bikes to carry with the RV however.

Heard on the news this morning that Washington State has the highest gas prices in the nation. There’s been a lot of talk about creating a system where we pay tax on the miles driven instead of a tax on gas. This is to capture more revenue from EV owners and from folks with high mpg cars too. In fairness to the state government and our high gas prices Washington State does not have a state income tax and the state gets a goodly percentage of its revenue from the gas tax. On one hand it won’t affect me much as I’m retired and don’t do the daily commute to work but on the other hand I do live about 15 miles north of town so any trip for me is 30+ miles.

They can say what the want about taxes for the road but it all gets used for anything but the roads. The roads in this state are some of the worst in the country. We have gas tax state income tax and license plate fees that are outrageous. Buy a new car here and be ready to write a check for at least 1k and more to license it. There is road and bridge taxes added in on the license plate fee.

To each his own..........I owned mustangs for years. All GT's w/dual exhaust......If I get another one it will be the same. You couldn't run fast enough to give me one that has the same principles as a golf cart...........A Mustang suv......That's a desicration of the muscle car.
