the grandson and I stumbled upon this yesterday afternoon while out walking around the farm, one of his favorite things to do here.
It's 30"long, it and the one shoulder was all that we found. Kind of odd. Anyone have guess?

A small 'gator. TN does have a few along the rivers. If you're near the Tennessee it may have come up from MS or AL. Looks like somebody killed it, skinned it and took the head for mounting, and a good piece of the tail for the meat. Probably was around 5ft long or more alive.

Gene, roughly 35 miles to the Tennessee.
They have confirmed there is a breed-able population of them in the Hatchie river which is on the far side of the county.

The wife looked up a gator, and the skeleton doesn't match.

Well, I'm not a forensic critter expert. You might take it to the TN wildlife folks to id it if you want.
