2023 NASCAR Season

Post by JEBar » Sun Feb 19, 2023 3:00 pm

well, the season kicks off in a few minutes with drop of the Green Flag at Daytona .... for me, its time to give NASCAR another chance and it appears I'm not the only one --- the grandstands and infield are packed .... hope it turns out to be a good race :D

Not me, I gave up on them when they started all the stage bull crap.
Hope you enjoy.

Same here. Inverting the field is stupid.

Gene, they don’t invert the field. They restart in the same order of the stage finish.
I do agree that the stages are a waste of good racing.

I dont follow NASCAR what so ever. I didn't understand the stages at all. is that for a free pit stop? How does it benefit the drivers?

It’s like starting a new inning with two men on base if you are behind.

years back the cars (by design) were so even that on many tracks there wasn't much passing .... the cars just ran in a pack .... most passing took place at restarts before the field settled back into a pack .... stages were brought in to add more opportunities for passing .... in addition, back then championship points were awarded to the places drivers finished the race .... adding points for the places drivers were in at the end of the stages rewarded teams who ran well early and finished down in the lower positions due to some type of mechanical problem, wreck or whatever .... personally, I don't car for the stage format but for me its not a major issue

the second "big one" happened just before the white flag and took out several good cars .... the result was a Green-White-Checker overtime .... Ricky Stenhouse in his Chevy Camaro was out front when a crash behind him right after he took the White flag .... that brought out the yellow and gave Stenhouse the victory ..... one of the things I really like is he drives for JTG Daugherty Racing which is a single car team owned in part by Brad Daugherty who is a former basketball star at UNC .... much more interesting race with bunches of lead changes

It took more time to run the last 10 laps than it did to run half the race. Didn’t watch to much of it anyway just drank a couple beers and cooked some sliders. Those litter sliders were pretty good

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
