Sitting here after work

Post by ruhler » Fri Jan 27, 2023 3:12 pm

Listening to Colter Wall on youtube, me and my 3year old son just fell asleep on the couch beside me, some nice time just taking it easy listening to music. I listen to all kind of music but mostly metal/rock. I found this artist some years ago while listening to Billy Strings (also great musician/guitarplayer) on youtube and the music really speaks to me. Its oldstyle Country and "outlawcountry", Great lyrics, unique voice and great musicians for sure. Listen to his music everyday. Well time get to bed its 9pm here had a long day at work.

It is always good to hear young artists who know how important the roots of their genre are. I have pretty much given up on the "Country" radio stations in my area. They have shifted their focus to "New Country". In my humble opinion it isn’t even close to Country.

Yup, Loretta Lynn outlived country music by decades. No such thing nowadays. I wouldn't see Taylor Swift if she did a free concert in my yard.

Yep, Al and ruhler put some good ones up. Damn hard to find "country" songs I can tolerate any longer. And man, do I ever agree with RR on Swift.

Thanks for posting those two links. We have a radio station in the Tampa Bay area that has been on for over 40 years and calls itself "Country". . They used to be and once in a while they slip up and play a real country song but not too much. When I go to the grocery at 5:30 am on Tuesday morning and coming home from Lodge on Monday night I can usually pick up 650 AM WSM in Nashville on my truck radio and hear some real country music. They show THE GRAND OLE OPRY on the Circle Network on the TV. Sometimes it is good and other times not so good.

Yeah, miss Merle Haggard, and I think "Big City" was/is one of his best.
