Bass Pro Shop PLUS Cabelas equals ???

Read this business report on another forum tonight.....quite highbrow business happenings outlined here. I hadn't heard about it yet.
Thought Henry Folk might find it interesting to learn that Bass Pro Shop will take over Cabelas.

I had just heard it yesterday. I just went to my second Cabalas when I was in Denver last weekend. It was much smaller than the Kansas City one. I still managed to find something to get. A soft sided fishing box that was on sale for ten dollars. It took plastic boxes that hold your stuff. One Plano was five dollars. Four marked Cabelas were 7.99 for all four, made by Plano.

I liked Cabelas the best. I found Bass Pro not as good quality stuff when I was able to compare. For fishing gear, I prefer to get that at Gander Mountain. (I have never gotten fishing gear at Cabelas.)

I hope the mystique stays, but I don't know.

I'm hoping they keep the retail side separate even if they combine operations. I enjoy shopping both websites now (don't have a Cabelas close by) because they provide some variety in offerings and sales.

Interesting. We have both in Calgary, each are HUGE stores.

I love Cabelas but think they are over priced.
