.22 LR Quiet Ammo

Post by graywolf » Sat Nov 26, 2022 9:11 pm

Today in Academy, I was just browsing the .22 ammo and saw these Quiet's. I've never had any interest in them, never even thought about shooting any------until today. Just outa the blue I bought a box. This rain is supposed to move thru tonight. May try them tomorrow. I know some of you have shot them, but I have no idea what to expect.

I have shot the Aguila colibri. It's super quiet, about as loud as a nail gun. The only thing is you have to manually cycle the rounds.

I've shot some through one of the bolt actions that I have.
Pretty quite, but not as quite as you might think.
But it will shoot through a drink can at 15 yds.

Target ammo it is not. If you're shooting for group size or target practice, just go to regular standard velocity ammo if you are concerned with accuracy. Most folks use it for short range plinking or pest control, meaning under 30 yards. Yes, it is quieter than standard velocity 22 LR, but nowhere near as quiet as CB loads. Velocity is about the same as a standard velocity 22 Short.

Shot a 5 shot group yesterday after shooting the air gun. Since I was shooting air gun at 10 yards, I shot these at same distance. Broke out the H001 to shoot with. Gosh, that hi viz front sight was nice. Good group for me. Maybe because I could see the sights. Also only at 10 yards. No experience with Quiets, but they are louder than I thought they would be. All I’ve ever shot has been HV, maybe I’ll try a box of SV.

I got a couple family members wants to hear how loud they are. I’ll enjoy shooting rest of the box, but don’t see a reason I need to buy anymore.
