Wild quick storm yesterday evening!

Post by fortyshooter » Mon Sep 26, 2022 9:54 am

Strong cold front roared thru our area late yesterday with some strong straight line winds. I thought the trees would be uprooted! Power went off and on several times last night and quite a few in our neighborhood still out of power but we have ours. Tree debris all over the roads and yards lots of cleanup to do. Many traffic lights were blown off their line mounts so to travel around will be touch and go today. Saw 6 power utility trucks hauling down my street this morning while we were walking Buster along with the sounds of generators running. Blue skys and Fall like weather now!

Those quick ones can be the worst. I hope you come through it well. I'm glad you still have your power.

Yep everything is fine and most all power in the area is back up. Our neighborhood is powered by 3 different circuits and ours stayed on but next door neighbor's and across street was off till 10:00 AM this morning. I got lucky this time!

Well lights off again last night due to remians of hurricane Ian. 25 MPH winds and heavy rain brought another tree limb down couple blocks down our street and took out the power in a lot of the neighborhood. Had to scramble around getting the generator and cords setup and after 20 minutes the power came back. Wife wants to look at the Genrac whole house deal now which isn't a bad idea.

We just installed a Generac. Be advised that there was a long wait to get one. Over a year.
What we are concerned with is when we are south in the Winter and the power goes out for
whatever reason and the house freezes. It has happened to us already but our security notified
us and a neighbor got heaters in the house until repairs were made.

I wanted a 24 KW but none were available. We did get a 22 KW after a long wait. It starts up
every Monday at 10AM and does a self diagnosis. The first time it did that it scared Carol half to
death.
The cost of the Generac is one thing, the other is the cost of installation. I usually get a permit
and wire whatever needs to be done, but this was way above my capability. It took two electricians
two days to get it done. I still think it's worth it.
