Bose Sound Bar

Post by Sir Henry » Thu Aug 18, 2022 5:14 pm

I didn’t have a TV in Seattle however when I moved here I bought one. Actually I bought two, one for the living room and a big screen for my bedroom. I ordered a Bose sound bar for my bedroom and it really makes a difference. No it’s not a big boom box but rather clarifies speech. I can now actually understand what they are saying and have the volume at a lower level.

If I want more base I can order a separate base speaker. I don’t think I’ll order it. This sound bar is made for smaller rooms. If I order one for the living room it will be a bigger model.

They make a radio with the same technology. Good for listening to the Brewers games.

I bought one as soon as I bought my largest TV. They certainly DO make a difference. Especially when watching movies.

I have to have closed captions on.

I used it at times but now here and more important understand what they are saying. I’m really amazed at how well the speaker bar works. I had one a decade ago and it just made everything louder.

Technology is amazing nowadays... My friend swears by those noise cancelling range headphones. You can hear like almost normal when talking but it blocks the loud bangs. I'm cool with plugs. I just say "huh?" a lot.

They are great for hearing conversations not meant for you.

As we are aging my wife and I find that we are having trouble understanding content when watching a show where the characters speak with an accent. So we put the closed caption on and that really helps. Never used to have this problem. :(

Gene, I'm glad you like the Bose product, but am not surprised. All of my Bose products are excellent for their intended purpose. I feel you get what you pay for from that company.

As far as putting on the captions, I can understand each regional accent, but when watching British shows, Mary likes to have the captions on, even though they are speaking English. I do tell her what some of the slang means at times too.

I was really reluctant to buy the Bose because they are so expensive. This is one time I’m glad I paid.

I don't understand why it seems to me and wife that the actors are either whispering or they are not enuciating clearly. We like watching Brit Box that we are subscribed. Most the time I have to keep the volume up to 100.
I will look into that sound bar.

Imagine being able to just turn up the voices. I’m not sure how they do it but it really works. It has a voice, movie and music setting. I watch movies on the voice setting. It has enough low end base.

Yes, That is exactly what I need! Thanks, Gene for that tip. I'll look it up first thing in the morning.
