I think you mean Ben Foster, who played "Charlie Prince," Russell Crow's sidekick and number two in his gang so well in the movie. You are right, he was awesome in the part. Then, you realize he's everywhere:

The Punisher (Took me a while, he played the piercings faced neighbor... I know!)

Oops, my mistake. Yes, Ben Foster. He was also in the recent western movie, Hostiles.
