Good monday/bad monday

Good Monday: I've never really liked the .22wmr LCR I've had for several years, so headed down to Gary's in Columbus and picked up this Heritage RR Birds Head. .22 wmr/lr. Nothing fancy, but what can you expect for $176.



Bad Monday: So, on the way home from Columbus, headed South on Hiway 45 just past Bluecutt, I didn't notice a guy mowing. BOOM!! Rock thru the right rear passenger window, glass everywhere! A split second difference and it would have come thru the front side window and probably hit me in the head. U-turn and flagged down the guy on the mower. He called his boss - who immediately said he'd pay for the damage. Even though I was furious for a few minutes (and armed as usual of course), it didn't occur to me to put some holes in the guy on the rider. I know in some parts of the country this would have likely gotten the guy shot

Back to Good Monday: Got home, cleaned up the wheel gun I'd just bought, loaded it up and fired a couple cylinders of .22lr and .22wmr. Shoots good. Back in the house, poured a drink and posted all this.

That is unfortunate. Yes you were lucky it was the back window and the owner SAID he would pay damages but that doesn't cover your stress and time and inconvenience.
That said, enjoy your new pistol.

Dang Gunny, that would have been a "WTF!" moment for sure. Glad no injury. You never know. Cool revolver you picked up.

When I mow with my zero turn rider out by the highway I am particularly careful not to have
the discharge pointing towards any cars traveling by. I've seen what happened to you and it
can be nasty. Actually a window is probably cheaper to fix than a big dent.

Could've been worse for sure, glad it wasn't.
I have that same revolver, nice little plinker.
I've even carried it on a few errands around town with the mag cylinder.

It's a small grip, especially if you have big hands. Not bad tho, and comfortable. Works well in semi-auto mode . It does have a funny little safety switch on the left side next to the hammer, which surprised me on a single action. In the safe (up) position it rotates a hammer block to prevent the hammer from striking the firing pin. Thumb it down to fire. No indicators telling you whether it's on safe or not, but you can see a small gap between the hammer and the pin when it's on safe. So a short learning curve with it.

It did need lubing out of the box. Cylinder pin, and shell ejector in particular were dry as a bone and grated when operated. The factory did run a cylinder of .22lr thru it judging from the powder residue, which is expected. And all the frame and grip screws needed a little tightening. But altogether, a pretty decent little wheel gun for the price.

Both do, I have a 6.5" one also.

I checked. Mine has a very tiny hardly noticeable red dot also. I stand corrected.

I know that got your attention. Glad everything worked out for you to get it fixed. I always when cutting close to road, stop when I see a car coming, no matter which way I’m facing. I may be only one around that does that though.

Working at a grade school I always stopped mowing or snowblowing when kids were anywhere near. Was kind of funny with the little ones, Kgn. - 2nd grade. Anytime you were working on sprinklers or doing something like picking up glass from a broken window during recess you would have a big group of them crowded around you.

I always said if you put up the fanciest playground equipment made next to a hole and a pile of dirt the kids would rather play with the hole and the pile of dirt.

That's true. Equipment takes away their imagination and ingenuity. The hole and dirt pile allow them to be creative and exercise their young minds.

I do the same, stop mowing if there is a vehicle passing by.
