Have an annual forum shoot coming up shortly for one of the Aussie hunting forums, someone put up a few pics from previous shoots.
I had forgotten about this one from about 10 years ago but still think it is pretty cool. My son who would have been around 14 at the time shooting black powder loads from a 45/70.
Haven't shot any BP through it for a while so it might be time to load up a few more.

I would hate to have to clean the barrel on a lever rifle after shooting BP.

Its not hard, one of the reasons I love Henrys and Marlins is it takes less than 30 seconds to drop the lever and breach block out to allow cleaning from the breach end. With BP this means you are pushing all the rubbish out the muzzle not back into the action.
I use baby wipes, the same cloth wipes that come out of the packet wet with a soapy water mix you use for cleaning babies at nappy change time. One on a spear point jag takes 95% of the fouling out in a single pass. Being a foot square instead of a few inches for a conventional cleaning patch the amount of fouling they take in a single pass is unbelievable and they are already wet with the perfect BP cleaner.
With a spear tip jag you can push them through the bore they drop off when out the muzzle pull the rod back through and repeat, 5 or 6 and all signs of fouling are gone.

Great picture and excellent advice for cleaning that BP out. Nothing beats good ole soap and water.

I do love the pic as well. Is this your son that drove cross continent, wiping out roos with the bumper of his truck to visit?
