Farmers Tan
I’m laying low today as I’ve had too much sun and fun on my new tractor. Even with sun block I’m getting tanned. I think part of the reason is I’m at 1,870 feet instead of the 400 in Washington.

I don't think that sun at 93 million miles away knows the difference of 1470 feet.

Let a little air out of the tractor tires so you're not so close to the sun....that's why I ride Badger on sunny days, his legs are shorter than Dakota's.

It's because the UV rays have less atmosphere to travel through at higher elavations.
From Google search:
"Does altitude increase UV?
UV exposure at high elevations is significantly greater than at sea level. In fact, there is a 6 to 10 percent increase in UV exposure for every thousand feet of elevation. For example, here in Colorado Springs, which is about 6,000 feet above sea level, the UV exposure is 36 percent higher than at sea level."

Does this mean a patio cover will soon be built so you can shoot in the shade.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

No I’m digging a tunnel from the bench to the targets. It will put me 20 feet further from the sun. It was also suggested locally that I just close my eyes and everything will be dark.

When I was mountaineering we would wear clown white. At 14,410 feet on to of Rainier you can get fried on the glaciers.dave77 wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 3:26 pmIt's because the UV rays have less atmosphere to travel through at higher elavations.

I really notice the difference in summer, we are only 1000 feet at home but the farm 15 miles away closer to 3000. It is always significantly cooler air temp by around 5c. 100 days at home are lucky to be low 90s at the farm but the sun has significantly more bight and you burn far quicker.
Catches lots of people out as they dont think about the UV exposure due to the lower temps.

The Sun. That is a big topic these days for those paying attention. There's a lot going on with that big ball of fire that is affecting a lot of things.
